anyone count how many 1st time posts there were in that thread, lol?

also, can we exclude anyone that's said the fx series was a failure, PoS, etc?

that would eliminate well over half the contestants :D

I think it sucked, but I still would love to have it. Would be an improvment over the 8500 in my sons computer. ;)

Free? and collectors item.

Well, the 5800 would run better than my 5600, although not a huge step, but still a step in the right direction. I am getting the 6800 Ultra on release. I have another system that could use a better video card and the 5800 would fit perfectly. One last thing, to me, noise is NOT an issue. It could be quiet as a mouse running in pure darkness at night or a freight train passing through a New York subway. Either way, the card is good and better than what I currently have! :lol2:

The 5800 ultra was a legend.
I think it qualifies to be a Guinness World Record holder.
"The loudest noise generated from a video card" category.
And I am not being sarcastic.

Its a card that Nvidia would rather forget. Besides, its still fast and it play games, so why not? I would love to have one, and I hope I'm one of the lucky ones. :)

I would really like another BFG 5900NU. But there a little hard to come by now. So I'll take this one instead.

a FX 5800U is faster than a 9600XT in everything but DX9.....

I'll bump for that....but a perhaps serious point, here.

Could the admins, when they close the thread to pick a winner....not only remove the obvious duplicate entries, but ALSO all entries from duplicate IP addresses?

Wouldn't want to see members 'cheating' by reg'ing a couple different email addresses to themselves and entering once for each.

i want one to replace my ti4200. i can't afford to buy a 6800 or anything else decent as the cash i saved up for it magically disappeared after i crashed my car :'(

If I win I will give it to my mate who normally gets my hand me downs. When I went to a GF4 4400 he got my old GF2 MX .. I think he is still using it !

I told him about Far Cry the other day now he wants to play that .. probably his MX will be lacking somewhat :)

I owned a MSI 5600 before I got my PNY 5800 Ultra and it was a very huge step..

As for why I want another one? Its still a nice card and isn't leaps and bounds faster than my 9800Pro aside of newer DX9 games, and I still find nvidia drivers way more stable and bug free. PLus, its a collectors item :)

it's a legend plus a collector's item
i wouldn't mind the sound as long as it's fast :)

Sure it seems unfair, but we were all first time "noob" posters at one time, besides, it might encourage some to participate more.

I have to say there are very few cards I wouldn't want for free, I think less people would be wanting a 5800U if they had to swap their 5900/9800 for it. I wouldn't run one myself in my main PC as the noise just gets on my nerves, even the non-ultra cooler has an irritating whine.

You don't have to stick it in your system, I'd hold onto it simply for having such a famous card :D

I think the real concern is are there any posters that have re-registered to give themselves another shot. I'll get bored later on and search every poster to make sure it's fair
