radeon x800 XT will arrive in June
500mhz core/ 1000mhz mem
looks to be a close match to 6800ultra, radeon might even lose, especially with lack of ps3.0 support.
like the baron at b3d said, nv has something up its sleeves, the A2 stepping might be released soon as 6850 or 6900. who knows.

the x800xt is clocked 100MHz higher than the 6800u so far, but that could change. its all speculation right now

Everyday more juicy details come out about the R420. I am going to bet that it will be significantly faster than the 6800U in 'certain' situations. ;-)

Based on what?, if nvidia put the same work into the NV30 as NV40 the Radeon's would'nt have had a leg to stand on.

why are you talking about the NV30. The NV30 could have been a lot of things, but it wasn't.

I am hearing the nv40 will come out as 475/1200 for final clocks with the a2 stepping while the x800xt will be 500/1000 so they could exchange victories depending on the benchmarks, but time will tell "soon" ;)
This wait is killing me... Thats how it goes being a gaming enthusiast, seems I spend more time waiting for the next big thing rather than enjoying it when it arrives.. rofl
heh. i hear there's a A3 stepping that's NV is being even more tight lipped about. if by chance the R420 XT is faster than the NV40 A1, they will release the A2 as well as the A3 which has a core of 600 (rumoured) <- the albatron 6800U with 600mhz core claimed on their website might very well be the rumoured A3 stepping. :wimp: w00t

who knows but one thing for sure, if ati keeps us waiting too long, imagine their supprise if nvidia beats them to it and people grab the 6800u in stores before the x800 is even out

Because it was let down by it's shader performance and now people seem to think based on that, the R420 will be faster than the NV40, which is not the way to look at it at all.

You mean cheating drivers and inflating benchies? :retard:

The only reason there are driver optimizations is because of there bad shader performance, sometime back I compared AF IQ in COD with a friends Radeon 9700 Pro, he and I both agreed the FX was slightly better.
That was when the nvidia was accused as driver optimizations and the reason we both did the comparison.

So you are assuming ATI will not increase the shader speed in the R420? :angel2:

Stop putting words into my mouth, I am assuming nothing and I didnot say such a thing, trolling I see. :screwy:

People are forgetting the advantage that ATi has in more VS units. This will play a LARGE part in future games a well.
As to A2 and A3 revisions where the heck do you get these things? I see no real way that it would be possible to get that huge of an increase in a respin. It would have to be a totally different card to do that. Now it could turn out to be the nV45 rebadged but I still highly doubt this. More than one reputable webmaster has already stated that the 400/1100 is the FINAL spec for the ultra.

But you do have to agree that it would be prudent for ATi to increase their shader performance as well.
If you look at it this way: If PS shader performance scales linearly for ATi then by doubling the pipes you would get double the performance. Now ATi I would think would have found ways to increase this. Lets say by 10%. So now a game that ran a PS2 version at 30fps would run 66fps with the new card.
I think that is all was asked of you.

There is no doubt that ATI have increased there shader perfomance, by how much we dont know but 30fps + 10% is not 66fps.

Linearly scaled 8 pipes at 30fps --> 16 pipes at 60fps + 10% is so 66fps :p

Thats the theroy but it's not that clear cut, lets wait and see.
Double power does not mean double frame-rates! Especially when a considerable amount of frame time is spent on the cpu, i.e. real games. Synthetic fill-rate tests are another matter tho.
You need alot more than double power to get double frame-rates for the same cpu/ram.

But then Theinquirer says the X800 PRO beats the 6800 ULTRA...
a 16x1 pipes card needs higher memory bandwidh to feed those..
right know ATI and NVidia 16pipes will act as 12x1 or even as 8x1 in bandwidht limited situations ..
so expect to see dramatic performance improvements ,with higher COre/memory clocks.. SAmsung will have 2000mhz gddr3 memory by end of year.. :drooling:

I have a feeling that r420 is going to offer something more than pure raw speed.
Or maybe it's being overhyped.
