I just slipped in a P4 2.8 GHz 533MHz FSB into my computer today hoping it would work. I heard three beeps and had no screen. I went back to my current POS CPU and the system worked again. I guess my system just couldn't handle the strain!!!!! I'm stuck at 400MHz FSB. Time to put this computer out to pasture. :lame:

What motherboard are you using?

Get a Rdram mobo from Newegg when they come in refurb that supports 533FSB. You can most times get them for $40 shipped. And if you ever plan on selling that PC800 I have some $$$ with your name on it. :)

I couldn't agree more about a motherboard that supports RAMBUS... what was intel thinking. Definately get another board that uses DDR, then you'll get that 2.8b cpu rock'n!

if your rambus memory PC800 is 40ns, just get MSI NEO max2 i850e for 35$. Look for it over Price Watch. Great mobo, and it will be everything fine. It's better than buying new mobo and DDR.

I'm using ASUS P4T533 with 768 RDRAM PC1066-32bit. Yes it is old, but still pushes 4.1GB/s for memory bandwidth. All I can that Rambus is way way better than DDR. DDR is crap...I wish Intel did not drop Rambus, and Rambus wasn't expensive. I guess, it's all about money...
Intel should make support for rambus. Hell I would rather pay 200$ more for 9.6GB/s (new RDRAM), than crap called DDR...
