Ever tried this Windows XP Game Advisor (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/games/gameadvisor/default.asp). It gives my system this rating:

Your system meets the minimum requirements to play Unreal Tournament 2004.

Your PC configuration:
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 2992MHz
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900
Memory: 1024 MB
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP

Minimum configuration for this game:
Windows 98/Me/2000/XP, Pentium III or AMD Athlon 1.0 GHz processor, 128 MB RAM, any Windows-compatible videocard, 3.5 GB hard drive space, CD-ROM drive, Windows-compatible soundcard

I run UT2004 @ Max settings for game controls with a resolution of 1280x1024x32, Image Quality, AA 2xQ and AF 4X ... Off line frame rate avg. between 50 to 125 fps. On line in Onslaught usually are around 60 fps.

As far as i can tell, its just a big database of all of the Game Develoeprs min specs... and compares them to your computer.

I actually found a couple that said mine was above the minimum requirements :lame:

how is meeting the requirements a bad thing?

It's actually how it displays the results on a "Futuremark" type graph in relation from minimum to enough requirements. I would certainly think my system would have the max requirements.

Here's an example:

It takes a lot more to run Far Cry than UT2004. Mine doesn't even meet the "Recommended PC" for UT2004 :screwy:

The recommended system for UT2004 isn't marked on the graph. Since your PC is on the far right of the bar, one might figure that the bar shows you can run it adequately...

It's not implying that UT2004 stresses your computer more than FarCry.

The recommended system for UT2004 isn't marked on the graph.

I've noticed it does that if your system "so called" doesn't meet the recommended PC requirements. No big deal it seems like a flawed measurement tool.

And it does, so what exactly is your point? My system more than meets the requirements of every single game. I know this because I can read the boxes and Web sites of games I'm interested in playing.

Hey, at least it's a clear way to tell people with GeForce4 MXs or Radeon 9200s that their card isn't up to spec. Or those with Pentium-IIIs that...you know...maybe it's time to upgrade.

This tool is NOT designed for *US*. (After all, *we* compete by 3dMark score :tongue2: ) This tool is designed to let 'average Joe' know when he needs to upgrade.

It seems it does that fine, to me.

Point is as in the post below it's just not an accurate measurement tool. But like I said no big deal. I was just bored and messing around when I discovered it. It don't take no Rocket Scientist to know if his rig can run a particular game.

BUmmer they have no Athlon 64 in they database or Radeon 9700Pro

Unfortunately we were unable to identify some hardware components of your system, and therefore it is not possible to provide accurate performance analysis

And yeah doesn't work on FireBird need Active-X to work.

MS site dont work well in firefox so thats not a surprise, I think this is more of a 'Get people onto XP' than Game Advisor.
