View Full Version : Chalabi's swan song or a stepping stone?

I don't get why this guy is so bad but Saddam is ok. I don't understand why the left just focus' on certain things and hammers them over and over ie., Halliburton, the Rumsfeld/Saddam hand shake and of course the so called "immonent threat" quote. I just don't get it. It is like trying to put the square peg in the round hole. After a while wouldn't you think youd' give up.
Oh wait... let me read the article first. :D

Ok I take it back. Just look at this guy. LMAO!!! He has "I can't wait to fire up the plastic chippers again" written all over his face. This guy is creepy looking.

I think this guy should be president of Iraq.

Chalabi sounds like bad news to me... Probably better than al-Sadr though. ;)

saddam was bad news and he is gone...
ahmed chalabi has been one of the main sources of bad information for us... he has been indicted for fraud, embezzlement and breach of trust wrt $300 million missing from a bank he founded in jordan...
he worked with high-level US officials to overthrow saddam , he has been looking to overthrow saddam through the use of force since 1992... he either directly gave fake information wrt Iraq or he setup meetings with other people who did so... the CIA setup his little exiled party called the Iraqi National Congress (INC) in the 90's... in complying with the fraud/embezzlement charges the INC is being investigated by the State department on charges of improper accounting practices...
there are reports all over the internet the INC fed information directly to Dick Cheney, bypassing the CIA and our intelligence apparatus... all this was pre-war...
now chalabi has allied himself with al-sistani and shiite fundamentalists in iraq... some of whom are decidedly anti-american...
I have never been enamoured by chalabi... the fact is as things stand today he would stand to take charge of Iraq... ask yourself whether this is some left-wing conspiracy when that happens or a right-wing fiasco since right-wingers think anything that doesn't conform exactly with their rosy outlook of the world must be b.s.
feel free to cross check my info with sources online...
I never said I liked him. I think he is a crook also. I just don't know what is with the obsession. He will not be president. I think they can find someone much more on the level.
BTW I was serious. He looks like a mass murderer. Freakazoid to the max.
he is the front-runner to assume power in iraq... no one else has positioned himself as chalabi has done...

I had heard about the embelzement, the faulty intelligence, the part about the INC and stuff. This latest development is somewhat news to me however.
As to this part
Mr Brahimi believes the IGC lacks credibility with ordinary Iraqis.
This has set him at odds with Mr Chalabi, widely seen as one of the Council's most ambitious and controversial figures.
should arguably have people scratching their heads. If people perceive a puppet administration, or figures that they have don't have any credibility in...are they really going to want to follow the lead? In any case, put it altogether:

Given many things, many people could be left scratching their heads while looking at his record and left wondering "is that really the best that could be done? Just what was accomplished if we replaced one tyrant with this guy?"
This is just a guess but maybe he is who the US has to work through. It seems as he has some sort of power and backing, other wise the US would not bother with him. At least he doesn't have toture chambers and palaces on the Tigris.

he has some friends in high places...
if he is willing to propogate war to get his wishes why should we believe he would not employ authoritarian means to stay in power?
