sorry, couldn't helo myself, but a sentence like that is irresistable..
Come on man! Be a little understanding, you can't tell me you were born knowing everything can you? The mere fact that she is on our forums automatically upgrades her from the common consumer that will just buy anything compusa has on sale... she is asking for serious advice on a computer upgrade, and we should provide it, not make fun of her for it.

Actually, purchasing a PS2 or an XBOX might be a good idea considering the cost vs performance ratio.
And please, stop this PMS ridden flame war. Is it just me, or does it seem to be 'that time of the month' for several of the posters in this thread?
:D

Everyone gotta start somewhere... not implying this is your 1st computer but my 1st one was bought back in "march '96"(b-day present to muself). It had...
486DX4 100mhz/8mb EDO memory/1mb cirus logic pci video card/850mb HD/4x cdrom/Opti ISA sound card/14.4k ISA modem/mini tower case/generic AT keyboard, serial mouse, cheap speakers and all it came with was DOS6.22
All for the low low price of $1300, hows that for a kick in the pants! Needless to say, i had fun while i could with it and upgraded it every chance i got till it became obsolete.
Ps- Building a computer really depends on what you plan to do with it. GL

Whoa, I didn't think calling someone a n00b would make me all these new enemies! When I was a n00b and everybody called me that, it didn't bother me much. I do admit I said it in a REALLY bad way. My bad, I apologize.

Check out nvidia.com. They said something abuot that card & T&L. The bigger bro to the TNT2 is geforce2 MX 400, 440 420......! And yes it looks like there's no AGP slot. The geforce fx 5200 PCI runs good (Friends' system) He had a Riva TNT2. NFS Underground looked real bad so he upgraded to the FX5200

Hey, I have played this game on my system, note my system isn't the most powerfulest in the world but the game runs ok.
Pentium 3 800MHZ 133FSB Coppermine
512MB PC133 SDRAM
Geforce 4 Ti4200 128MB AGP8X version
I would recommend like the above posters, to get at least 1 stick of RAM 256MB at least.
Probably DDR266 i am assuming here that the processor is a Athlon Thunderbird and it is in sync with the ram 1.33GHZ. Don't really remember all that good on older AMD processors.
Upgrading your graphics cardcould help tremendously, a Radeon 9100 PCI would be a good bet or Geforce FX 5200 PCI.
