Looking through a hex drop in the recently approved Futuremark drivers for Cat's 6.14.10.6444 OpenGL driver found this:

RADEON 9600.RADE
ON X300.RADEON X
600.RS400...RADE
ON X800 Series..
Series. XT.RADEON
X800.RADEON
800 SE..RADEON
X800 XT..RADEON
X800 PRO.MOBILITY
RADEON 9800....
RADEON 9800 PRO.

Schwiinnnng! Dunno how this would pan out, though. But we shall see! What do you guys think? I posted this originally on the rumor mill, but noone saw it, so I put it again here instead.

This is probably the M24 chip. That means it is PCI-X interface, with GDDR3 memory, 500Mhz min (according to Samsung 500Mhz is the slowest GDDR3 ram they got, and Samsung is the only company making GDDR3) equalling 1Ghz effective if run in dual channel mode.
As for the chip itself, obvkously it would have .13 micron architecture, and based on the X800 (r300 mobility setup is getting old). Looking at the X800 chip options, the slowest is the X800SE, which has 8 full pipes.
IF ATI came out with this baby, it would signify the beginning of the end of desktops being complete gaming machines, and the emergence of notebooks being a much better option for LAN parties.

It will more then likely be an X800SE, ATi said they kept the power needed for their cards so they can be intergrated in the mobile sector :)

There is no R300 mobility sadly...

What about the Radeon 9700 moblilty? That's what I meant in my original post. The 9700 mobility isn't the R300 like the desktop 9700.

What about the Radeon 9700 moblilty?

Just a misleading name, it's a 9600XT without overdrive (four pipelines, .13 micron with low-k), nowhere close to a desktop 9700.

What about the Radeon 9500? That has 4 pipelines and is based on the R300. The problem with the mobile version is due to running 128bit memory also but this is to conserve power.
