saw this at inquirer
dont trust em much, but they were pretty accurate about nv 40
new X800Pro and X800XT will only consume a maximum of 80W. This would put them on the cutting edge of a single molex connector in terms of power usage.
So, how can it pull this trick off? Easy, it will be on a .11µ process rather than the current .13µ, and that should take power down a notch.
u can read the entire article RIGHT HERE (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=15638)
maybe this is why the radeon x8xx series have been delayed

i dont think anybody is doing .11 yet, but i could be wrong.
And if anyone is doing .11 process, it would not be A.T.I's usual practice as they like to put out theyre mainstream cards on the newer process(to work out the issues on the less inexpensive vpus), and thyre performance high end cards on the older tried and true process.

Agreed, probably the rv420 value part like rv3xx

No way, I think ATi will skip .11 entirely and jump to .09 with low-k.
Could be. Would not 0.11 on non low k be cheaper though than 0.9 with low k for the value range even considering the larger die ?

Its possable. Micron whole prosses for 1 1/2 years is on .11 and doing good.

anybody who buys that card , for that price, is gotta be nuts.
if i am going to spend that much on a on a new v.c(and i will), i am going to get what i want, not a 6800 or x800pro, ill get the 6800 ultra, or the x800xt platinum, i want a 16 pipe card, and for 500 bux i oughta get one.
