latest preorder info states tt the X800 will be avaliable in july
so gives nvidia much more time to figure out it's full range of cards & hopefully a much higher clocked refresh perhaps?

However, the X800 PRO is going for $500 FRIKKIN' dollars!!! That's for the part with only 12 pipelines by the way.... :retard: :screwy:

That does seem like a high price, it's not official, maybe it's just a jacked up pre-order price by that particular store!? Either that or it could indicate that the performance of that card is right up there with the $499 6800U!?

we'll see if it's worth it's price after review sites get the card

Well if the X800PRO would indeed be 500$ that sure has to mean the rumours it beating the 6800 ULTRA would be true. I don´t see neither of it coming though. It will neither be priced at 500$ and it won´t beat the 6800 ULTRA.

Well it looks like it will available to buy right after launch, just like what happened with the 9800XT. The fact a retailer is offering a pre-order and leaking details on the card is a pretty good hint that the cards have already been/are being shipping to them right now.

Time will tell. I hope it's sooner than later.

or more accurately, once the review sites aren't bound by NDA any more - they probably already have the cards.

no, not at all!!! it means that their fab yields have been horrible and they're trying to offload as many SE version cards as possible. :ORDER:

There is no way in hell I'll pay 499 for the X800Pro.
Why would anyone pay that when they can get a 6800U
for the same price? :screwy: :lame:
Why on earth would u buy a 12pipe card over a 16?
Get that bad boy 16 pipe 6800 and over clock the sh!t out of it.
That's going to be the sh!t. :D :D

I think Nvidia has it self positioned well to win
back market share this round. ;)
I'm getting a 6800 myself. :D :D

In a sense, you may be right. If NV can offer products that perform similarly to ATI's offerings, for a similar price, than many people will be inclined to give the NV4x a shot this time around. I think both the NV4x and R42x cards will have some compelling features this go-around, and ultimately it will boil down to price and preference as usual.

One thing that NV fans can feel pretty happy about is that the NV40 seems to be a pretty future proof card. It has extremely fast PS 2.0 speed compared to the current gen hardware, and also full support for SM 3.0. Knowing that developers are really embracing the NV40 is also a plus. And of course, there is little doubt that the NV40 will fly through Doom 3 :D

One source isn't a good way to get a definite view of the price.

It will be 499.
Look at last round. The Pro was 499 when it was released.
When the XT come out it was 499.
Take it to the bank. ;)

Does this card cost 450 everywhere else? Do you think this sensible pricing reflected everywhere?

you seem to be ignoring the possibilities that the price quoted is wrong or that the 800Pro is AS GOOD AS a 6000U

the rest of my post will now be in the form of sarcasm:

but maybe you're right and ATI have totally ****ed up like AMD, I mean why the hell would you want an 2.4GHz AMD64 when you can get a P4 with more than 3GHz :lame:

the number of pipes is irrelevant without condsidering the "power" of each pipes. if a 16 pipe card can do 1 texture op and 1 math op per clock, is it faster than a 12 pipe card can do 1t and 2m per clock?

"pipes" (just as clock speed) are no indication of performance by themselves.

no, this shop is already breaking a legal agreement made with ATI, so do you really trust them to do something as honourable as not take advantage of ignorant excited people?

they are price gouging and relying on stupidity of people to not notice.
