X800 Pro price now shown up on www.pricewatch.com and type in "X800" without quote in search video cards category, it turned up to be $508 included delivery from the same site Allstarshop.com.

It seem Allstarshop.com do not make fast buck, I found some info from Beyond3D that MeriStation (http://world.altavista.com/babelfish/trurl_pagecontent?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.meristation .com%2Fsc%2Fnoticias%2Fnoticia.asp%3Fc%3DGEN%26n%3 D13369&lp=es_en) got some information about X800 Pro and XT prices from ATI branch in Spain.

X800 Pro will cost between $449-$499
X800 XT will cost between $549-$599

I think athlonxp1800 needs to calm down a bit. And place the correct weight on the value of the information he gets. (was gunna say something else, but it seems to have been covered)

sight...
no wonder why i take wich a huge grain of salt marketing papers.. ATi "believe" Fp32 is not neccesary ,but that doesnt stop them to market their cards as if they have it. pretty lame..imho.

if you dont have the feature ,lets make it looks that you have it .

until now it looks like the R420 is
Ps2.a /Vs2.0 , Fp24 and some video encoding/decoding capabilities ,with new compression techniques and of course faster performance.
Although R360 can use 32 FP color it can only use 24 FP shading. At least that's what I heard from someone else(sorry, I forgot your name).

Guess to need to look around a bit more on www.beyond3d.com (http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12004&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=40).

And taking prices in Europe in Europe and calculate them to Dollars does not support your arugement either. Prices in Europe are always higgher than in the US for imprt tax etc..

While I think that these prices are a bit high, I don't doubt that the X800XT and whatever Nvidia's next 512 mb card is may push beyound the $500 barrier.

Just the 512mb of memory alone has got to add a bit to the cost.

I am not fully versed but the R3xx series is fully 32bit except for the PS units.

lol. Taking my comment out of context is the only rebuttal you have?

So no real response then?

Then again why break precedent.

wtf?

Dave, let me ask you this...

Do you think preordering a x800 or a 6800ultra would be foolish and/or fanboyish?

Of course it is, it's not just fanboyish but kind of stupid.

See what the reviews say first at least.

yes.

pay money now then wait weeks for the card, or wait a few days to see what the competition has then decide (and still have to wait) - it's a no brainer for someone who wants the best card.

(and even if reliable X800 benchmarks were out and I knew which card I'd like, I still wouldn't preorder due to rip-off prices and potential first batch problems)

Are you a relative of Nforceman? Your style of posting sure seems similar.

Yeah how very unfortunately for ATI. In last few weeks here was a post at Rage3D forum about information about R420 strategy from ATI, they decided that R420 wont target NV40 due to different prices points. I was not very cleared what ATI mean but now the message is very clear, it mean higher uncompetive prices.

2 possible reasons of higher prices, also see my Are R420 going to be in short supply? (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=27212) thread:

1) R420 in short supply, ATI decided to raise the price ensure stablity supply.

2) In order to meet demand, ATI had no choice but to cover the higher price cost to pay to China to continue out-sourcing productions during productions power plants' energy crisis to stay floating.

X800 SE with 8x1/16x0 $399 - 6800 with 12x1/24x0 $299
X800 PRO with 12x1/20x0 $499 - 6800 PRO with 12x1/24x0 $399
X800 XT with 16x1/24x0 $599 - 6800 Ultra with 16x1/32x0 $499

It seem that ATI lost their way.

Hey Athlon,

Seems you were dead wrong with your assumptions! and worse: the x800pro hits retail early next week@ 399. When can I buy a 6800Pro @ 399? :retard:
