Spotted at VR-Zone (http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=751&s=1), a new ForceWare release (61.11) is coming:

Around 5% boost in Aquamark
Around 5% boost in X2 performance
Around 5% boost in Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness performance
Around 10% boost to Call of Duty performance
Over 20% improvement in Far Cry performance (fixed a z cull bug) :cool2:

The results above are expected on the 6800 series compared to 60.72.

Do these new drivers remove the Farcry optimizations and run all the PS2.0 shaders in that game now??

I'm really anxious to see some true Farcry benchmark numbers especially with the R420 launch tomorrow.

Update from VR-Zone:

The latest Forceware 61.11 drivers for GeForce 6800 series has substantially improve the gaming scores. The 3DMark2003 Pixel Shader 2.0 test revealed that the Forceware 61.11 improves the Pixel shader performance of the GeForce 6800 further that leads to better overall 3DMark2003 and Aquamark 3 scores. Current games like Tomb Raider and Far Cry that makes heavy use of PS 2.0 have noticeably improvements too. Even Call of Duty based on good old Quake III engine saw some nice performance boost.

It seems NV3x line can also benefit from the new driver release.

Quote from SL2 @ Guru3D (http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?threadid=87418&perpage=10&pagenumber=2)

BFV is now fixed for me. I can enable all high in game and 4xAA/8xAF and still crunch over 35FPS constant.

UT2004 seems to churn out a few more FPS with the same settings. Average is now 40FPS instead of around 29-30FPS.

NFS:U is hitting +60FPS with all settngs on highest ingame [Cept light glows & motion blur] with 4xAA/8xAF.

3dmark2003 hit around 6600 which is normal for me [Where as 60.80 hit around 5400].

Painkiller bullet trail effects are also fixed. And this game also runs over +30FPS with 4xAA/8xAF.

TV out is working ok as well [Just finished watching 13th Warrior on my TV through the TV out. All is good ]

The Nvidia system tray icon seems to have been changed [Blends in better now with other icons]. Also the menu seems different.

All in all, the best performing and most stable driver revision to date so far for my dying card.

This is on MSI FX5950-VTD256 Ultra @ 535Mhz / 1.03Ghz

What's your experience?

Definitely there still seems to be some bugs. I wonder if these will be resolved before the DirectX 9.0c and the FarCry PS 3.0 add-on are released? Still, 40% improvement in framerates at 1600x1200 is pretty impressive.

Wow thats the first time I've EVER seen GD actually like an NVIDIA product - 61.11 looks tasty on the new hardware also :-)

still no change for me here on a 5900 though.

oh well guess i'd better start saving up for that 6800GT

20% increased FPS with only a 20% decrease in features and quality... :(

and why is it that every time there is a FPS increase the fog is gone...

hmmm...

waiting for good drivers with all the "bugs" gone

BFV runs great with these. Something very interesting going on with these drivers! I think the force trilinear filtering is really working finally! Image quality in BFV was dramatically improved, the mip map boundries are much less noticable hence my suspicion Trilinear is actually working!

So far i like em alot, still testing.

Can anyone test the 8xS AA sampling pattern using the 61.11 drivers.
Someone claimed the sampling pattern has changed.
