this is quite shocking too,
i was going through firing squad, and came across this

how is this possible?
nv40 is built with high shader performance and full dx9.0 compatibility
infact, it even supports SM 3.0.
can it be just a minor driver issue?

you can read the entire firing squad article RIGHT HERE (http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/geforce_6800_ultra_extreme/page6.asp)

TechReport also noted these in the 6800U preview in April. It seems even S3 DeltaChrome and XGI Volari fails in these same tests. So there must be something in Shadermark 2.0 thats looks for ATI specific features.

Actually the NV40 chips could pass those test with a minor modification to the program the NV40 doesn't support all the same texture format as the R3/4XX cards the author selected a texture format that supports high dynamic range but doesn't work on the NV40. ( Actually I think the NV35 might support HDRI now too ).

Which texture format would that be ? I find it odd, especially considering NV have adopted ATI's texture float extension for fully generalised floating point texture support in OpenGL.
