At the expense of latencies, im not so sure... whats your oppinion on this? Introduction to DDR2 (http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1573)

Every new peripheral comes with a price premium. I figure once we actually have products that can use ddr2, prices will be skyrocketing down.

Hopefully.

Apparently it won't be till DDR2 bumps upto 667mhz we won't see the true speed benefits as that speed latencies won't matter as probbaly no ddr1 modules will be available at that speed :D

For intel DDR-II will start to bring benefits (over DDR 400) at 533MHz, for AMD it probably wont be until it reaches 667MHz.

I well aware that whatever you gain at one end, you eventually lose at the other end. Im sensing from what im seeing is that once we start getting higher on the FSB scale, latencies won't matter much? I guess i can live with that... im just so used to as im sure others as well that latencies play a big role in speed right now.

wow the inq has something technical (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=15167)

the major problem with ddr2 from what ive heard is that a motherboard can only have 2 memory slots ..... i dont know but it sounds like this tech will never make its way into server boards but i could be wrong .....
