After reading all these official previews .. whats your plan for the next upgrade ??

which graphics card you plan to pick , not matter that you'll buy it eventually or not .

me ?? i think i'll get both the X800XT-PE & the 6800U-EXT for my 2 rigs .. :D
if i had enough money by the time of thier release .. & if they were available at where i live .

& if no luck with the 6800U-EXT .. i'll take the 6800U for sure & after sometime overclock the hell out of it .

This is an easy choice because ATi will have the X800pro for sale as early as this weekend. Unless nVidia works out a small miracle and improves speeds at 16x12 with all the goodies cranked up, it's ATi form me. I'll pick up a 6800 in a few months when the price drops down to a reasonable level. I like to have both nVidia and ATi cards in my rigs, I have since the TNT and Rage days.

Definitely a 6800U/Ext and probably whatever the high-end AIW version of the X800 ends up being called or maybe some variant of the 6800 series for my 2nd system if they end up releasing a comparable card to the AIW (feature-wise).

Edit: Oh, after reading Skynet's response it reminded me that they all won't end up being out at the same time (and I'm impatient). In that case, the plan will probably change and I'll probably buy whatever comes out first and then adjust my plan accordingly. Although, if the X800Pro is out first then I'll probably wait a little bit longer to see if any concrete details surface on when the other cards will reach retail. If it won't be long I'll wait. If it's going to be month or something like that, I'll get a X800P first and then figure the rest out later.

I will wait and see how things play out. Besides No need for a new GC yet, untill the games come out, HL2, DOOM etc..

Oh and for those who voted the EU, :screwy: Why don't you just overclock the U instead.

6800UE because of it's extensive driver support for both Maya and 3dsMAx.

I do'nt think there is going to be a clear winner this round, kudo's to both Ati and Nvidia for making cards that are twice as fast as the last gen. :)

I'm suprised how the GT got even higher scores than the Ultra in some benchmarks !

Overclocking sometimes causes troubles .
i tried O/C my MSI 5900U to over than 475 & i got artifacts & some high temps .. (espically that i'm living in a Hell like room :firedevil ) .
besides .. you can o/c the U-EXT too! .. imagne a 475Mhz core ? ! :drooling:

man im watercooled in a cool room ;) i love getting bang for the dollor via overclocking and i hope them GT's all clock to beyond Ultra speeds like that. If the reviews of GT's do in fact clock similar im getting me one!!! Oh man what a great time to be a gamer!

Yes but by a very small margin. remember the U-EXT is nothing more than an overclocked U, plus it's not running on LOW-K. Waist of money, get the Ultra.

Jetro what water cooling setup do you have, Danger den+EHIEM?

Neither.

Both IHV's cards are too CPU bound for my poor old Athlon 2600+ on an nForce1, and I'm not upgrading to a bigger CPU until PCI Express motherboards are readily available.

So... I guess I'll wait for Fall Refresh cards.

From everything I have read, if I was to upgrade it would be for the 6800GT.

My Albatron 5900 flashed to 5950 plays games so well at my resolution (1024 x 768, 32 bit), I doubt I will be buying anything till Xmas, or early next year.

6800GT for me....but not anytime soon.

Yeah, I can see that ATI tends to win in Direct3d games based on ALL the reviews. But the 6800 wins in OpenGL almost all the time...and Doom3 is OpenGL! (Hell, one of the sites even noted an ATI PR guy admitting that the 6800 would perhaps win Doom3, while they expected their X800 to perhaps win HL2)

Finally, nVidia's drivers are just better. I chose to sell my 9800 for a 5900XT because of frustration with ATI's drivers....and now that the performance delta is even CLOSER, and in some times, ON THE OTHER FOOT....well, why WOULDN'T I stick with nVidia?!

The only thing really tempting about ATI is the VIVO on *all* their cards now. That's a nice touch. I have a fair amount of faith the nVidia manufacturers who have done VIVO to date on all nVidia products will on this one, too.

Course, the prices are a bit high...hence, the waiting.

did you see the x800pro overclocks? from 475/450 to 540/580. much better o/c results than the nv40 (surprisingly, at that...).

Not so much on the core... 6800GT went from 350 to 425 a 75mhz increase x 16 pipes = 1200 vs. 65mhz increase on the X800pro x 12 pipes = 780. The memory clocks on the X800pro were definately impressive though. Still, the GT managed 600mhz for its mem so its about equal there.

ATI should overclock much better, less transistors = less heat, plus LOW-K

imagine how high you can clock it if you took off their HSF and slapped on that sucker from the 6800! :)

Good for anyone that likes ATI, personally tho at this point in time i dont care how well the ATI cards overclocked, im looking for the best NVIDIA 16pipe option and the GT is singing to me. I intend to purchase a GPU block as i have more than enough external mount radiator to support it.

I run a customized Maze3, VW vanagon rear heater core w 3/4 in out and the 1048En with 1/2 thickwalled clearflex and a clear bayres.

Let's see....... after adding up all the NV40 picks from the vote that leaves......... ahhh yes about 27 NV40s left for others to purchase from the 50 they had made.

Sorry but the 2 6800 UE are already taken by the 2 votes. Non left.
