You could say that.

I'm donating my 9700Pro to a friend and want to get his Ti4200 in exchange for it. The FX5200 in my wife's Dell comes out - the Ti4200 goes in.

EDIT: YOu changed your whole post!! Now, what I typed below has barely any bearing!! AAAUGH!!! :p:p

...

ugh, get some sleep, man!! Don't be thinkin about AGP this/Geforce that when you need SLEEP!!! Jeebus!!

...methinks (jokingly) that nobody actually strikes that balance... and fondly recalls many a night sitting here mere seconds before falling into bed, finishing a post, SOMEHOW actually typing it, and having it actually be intelligible english!! :p

Oh, btw:
Lowest FX card that can even ever at all compare to GF4ti: FX5700NU...

I'm thinking my buddy will notice a bit of a speed increase with that 9700Pro vs. his Ti4200 (non o/c ofcourse). :)

I know what you mean about posting when you can barely keep your lids up. Last night I considered staying up late to hear what jAkUp had to say and also to see the first reviews posted. No offense to jAkUp (he's a cool guy) but I'm glad I hit the sheets. :D

Yup, the TI4200 is faster. The only thing it's missing is the DX9 features of the FX5200 (which are quite slow on that card when used heavilly), otherwise the TI4200 is the better card. The FX5200 is more comparable to the GF3, while the FX5600/5700 is closer to the GF4. But, at least for a budget card the FX5200 has a decent number of features (remember the GF4mx?)

noes!!! the 5200 does NOt compare to GF3!!! Maybe in graphs, but not in gameplay... even the 5600 non ultra feels weaker tahn a GF3 in gameplay as far as framerate steadiness/drops are concerned... the 4x2 config of the GF3 soundly outclasses the nv31 and nv34, sadly enough...

TI4200 is much faster, the FX5200 competes with GF3TI and was intended as an upgrade for GF4MX people. If you want something with TI4200 performance but still has DX9 and you don't wanna spend a lot, get an FX5700

so does that go for the ti4600 ( as in faster then the 5700)

my brother gave me a fx5700( asus) to try.
that means, to swap out my ti4600

I don't think the FX5200 or FX5600 come clsoe the geforce3. I'm running a Gainward Geforce3 right now, with an Athlon XP 2500+ @ 2.3GHZ. My Dad's comp P4 2.4C @ 2.7GHZ He Has a 5600XT in it. In ut2004 with same settings normal on 1024x768, I get 80fps steady, he gets more like 30 - 40.
