i think it speaks for itself, maybe with ati's extreme clock speeds they are having more cooling problems than they originally thought :lol2:
I think it's just HiS ICEQ cooling or something....the ones they had with r3XX series too. They were dual slots too.
Said to run 11 degree cooler ;)
I have the Artic Cooler on my 9800Pro and it does drop the temps considerably. But it takes up two slots (I never have used the first PCI slot on an ATX board anyway).
Cool and silent, that´s the one i´m gonna get as long as they´ll use the same sollution for the xt card.
They will probably use a more extreme ICEQ for the XT. I dun need a pci slot anyway ;) be it nv40 or r420! :D
Looks like a dustbuster. ;)
Nice to see a dust buster with a big fan :D
First pic is for the "dustbuster" themed HSF... second pic is what would probably be better IMO.

This "dustbuster" cooler is the best air-cooling design for GPUs available IMO. The only problem with the original FlowFX dustbuster was noise, but this thing is actually quieter than ATI's stock coolers. It's just good sense to exhaust hot air out the case instead of adding to the internal heat. I would like to see an exhausting cooler for the NV40 as well. For the price of a slot, you get better, quieter cooling, which is a worthwhile tradeoff. On the 5800Ultra, the loud 2-slot cooler offered no benefit compared to the smaller, cooler, quieter, faster 9700Pro, so that's why it was mocked.

I just remembered that the FlowFX had the intake as well as the exhaust at the rear. Bad design. :)

lol i posted this yesterday, but not such a big of a pic :)
nice..
ill be waiting for the HIS x800xt-pe iceQ with VIVO :D

Actually this HIS IceQ cooler is very quite, and cool too, I bet you could get 525mhz out of a X800pro with this easy, and 550 mhz on a XT.

It's like buying an Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer after-market for more OC headroom. Begone troll! :ban:
Unless of course you were joking...

I assume that its a new version of arctic coolings VGA silencer. HIS used the original on their 9800pros and it's a very good cooler. I bought one myself and it's everything a dustbuster style cooler should be.
Nvidia should have stuffed one of these onto the 6800, It would be quieter, cool better and pump most of that 100W of heat output, outside of the case instead of over your hdds.

I think Nvidia opts to use its own coolers for price reasons, I am under the assumption that providing someone elses cooler would probably require them to pay royalties. Or something ;)

What's the funny part? Ever heard an arctic silencer?

well im sure they could have made something similar. If you're going to take 2 slots its probably better to stick the hot air outside rather than inside.

lol
you mean vga silencer, by artic cooling.

IMO this card below owns any other dustbuster cooler, air-cooling design for GPUs.

Wow, people are really trying to say something bad about the X800 cards.
Might want to do some research before assuming...

I don't know. It looks like the first one (air) cools both the Mem and core, cooling the (less heat producing) Mem first. I like that. One thing though.
Isn't the gddr3 Mem supposed to produce such little heat, that it actually becomes a bad thing to attach a combo (core/Mem) heatsink?.
Also I wonder if either of these use a copper core.
I wish one of these reviewers would do a watercooling overclock. :)
Don't worry, the 6800 series and the 800 series will both be frozen under a prommy or cascade cooling by many overclockers.
The cores will be brought down to -100 degrees for maximum clocks.....
You'll see those cards standing at the top of the Orb as usual.

I'd rather see a more common and economical solution, see I'm thinking about adding a (video) water cooler to my Vapochill, But I'm interested in finding out which of these card's will benifit more.
We'll find out soon, but I am NONE too happy about what looks like a wall <25 MHZ higher than the XT whatever version has achieved using the stock coolers in reviews.
Looks to me like the 800pro and the 6800gt will be good clockers though.
