WTF? X800 Pro $500??

I thought the Pro was only supposed to cost $399, with the XT being the $500 part?

If you do a search on pricewatch right now for "X800" you'll see quite a few Pro cards showing up - and all of them are just under or in some cases OVER $500???

IMO, anyone who would pay over $500 for a Pro right now when they should be able to get an XT in a month for the same price is a complete cracker.

I think even ATI itself is pricing the Pro at $299, and you should be able to get it straight from them. Any early adopters should go there instead of searching on Pricewatch because of the blatant profiteering.

ATI is pricing the Pro at $399. They have a "special pack" of it right now with a few extras for sale on their site for $449. I doubt they are trying to throw $150 of extras on you, more like 50. $399.00.

I'm not surprised for this price .
from the latest Xbit review , the X800Pro looks to be outstanding when compared to the 6800U & it even beats it in some cases like FarCry or UT2003/4 . the only negitive is that when it lags behind the 6800U or the X800XT .. it lags very well .
other than that .. I'm really imppresed with the X800Pro performance for a 12 pipe VPU .

Actually what happened is that they connected one lever for each key on a keyboard to little hammers. When pressed the key would counter the lever and force the attached hammer to whack a spool around which the paper would be wrapped. A ribbon of ink saturated cloth would slowly pass over the hammer's striking location. The resulting impact of the specially embossed hammer head would cause the transfer of ink from the ribbon in such a way as to create the "typed" character on the sheet.

Plus it was really cool to watch I hear. :smoking2:

Supply and demand is what it´s called. One thing is for sure ATI will earn a hell of a lot more money on this generation video cards than nVidia... The X800:s is a lot cheaper to produce yet since they have the performance you will still pay premium :(

Don't do it dude!

You wont see it till June and you loose 4 weeks of interest on 700 bucks! (3 bucks) just by giving them the satisfaction of selling you stuff they dont even have. BTW are you interested in buying a bridge?
