Looks like Macci used a ln2 to get the core to 715 and the 3dmark 03 is over 15000.

See... I told you guys it overclocks good :)
Hehe, naughty ATI not mentioning in the press release what kind of cooling macci used.
Joe Buyer is gonna get pissed when he can't OC his XT like this. :fu:
Great job by the crazy finn though, and this is just the beginning. Give him a few more weeks. :D
ATI sure make great overclocker cards :)

Cold Ice makes anything overclock good. ;)

Right now, I'm primarily wanting to know what Arctic Cooling can do with it, since that's an easy and efficient improvement.

Hehe. Makes me wonder what LN2 could do for an Overclocked 6800EU.

here is a link with more info from Macci himself.

I wouldn't read too much into what you can do with LN2 cooling, although, it does show promise for those who want to pay $1000 for a faster card. Better to pay $500 for an XT and add a $500 phase-change cooler and get 650mhz (30%)out of it than to pay $1000 for a Gainward CoolFX water cooling setup and get 12%-15% out of a 6800.

ATI X800XT PE is the Best High end card right now
PERIOD :)
From what i can tell if developers use ATi's features then it will indeed better then the 6800 as smart shader HD uses simlar features to SM3.0.

Why bother with a Gainward when you can do your own for hundreds less? I'm sure Innovatek will be making blocks for the new boards.

I'm currently using the Swiftech MCW50 in 3 of my systems [Ti4600, R9700, R9500]. I'd like to upgrade the 4600, but prefer not having to buy new blocks. Swiftech did offer kits for Ti to FX, and if that works for the 6800 I might try it. :)

I think the NV40 will beat that. Why? X800XT is 520MHz and gets the same score in 3Dmark03 as a 400MHz 6800U. NV's UltrashadowII helps immensely in GT2 and GT3. A 200MHz overclock on an NV40 using the same methods will most likely score higher. The X800 doesn't do well COMPARATIVELY against the 6800 in 3Dmark03.

Ultra Shadow doesnt work in 3dmark2003, Let alone Direct3d, Its OpenGL capable only atm.

ChrisRay, you saying you doubt NV40 will beat that?

nVidia could beat that now with the Ultra at stock speeds. Just a little bit of tweaking here, some hacks there, and boom :)!

Personally i doubt it and the reason for that is just by looking how rare the 6800 ultra "extreme editions" seem to be...
An X800 XT at 520 mhz core seems to be pulling about 75 W at full load, while the regular 6800 ultra is already over the 100 w mark at 400 mhz clock, with the extreme edition using about 120~125w of power at 450 mhz core clock,at least according to what anandtech stated in his review...
I'm betting that overclocked X800 at 700 mhz core speeds, even if you include the mandatory V-core mod for the GPU,it's likely that it isn't using much more than what the 6800 ultra extreme edition uses at 450 mhz clock(130~140 Watts),now imagine the insane power draw and heat dissipation that a 6800 ultra would produce, with a volt mod to boot, when aproaching at least 575~600 mhz core speeds,in order to at least match what that 700 + mhz X800 is doing right now, performance wise...
I wouldn't be a bit surprised that the card hit's or even exceeds the 200 W power consumption mark at those clock speeds, with the attendant cooling problems that would entail...Makes cooling down an overclocked prescott P4 easy by comparison... :retard:
That's assuming that the core itself can take those clocks in the first place... :)

keep checking this thread here guys, we may see new record soon - Fx-53 2400@3300 (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=34555&perpage=25&pagenumber=5)
Tom Holk sets new records! AMD FX-53 @ 3.3Ghz (http://www.xtremesystems.org/) 3.4Ghz now....? what will he choose nVidia or ATI?:D :alc:

ChrisRay, you saying you doubt NV40 will beat that?
I didnt say anything. Just that Game Test 2 and 3 arent affected by Ultra Shadow, But Even W/o Ultra Shadow Nvidia cards have better stencil acceleration.

alright, who knows maybe ATI is the fastest after all, hope someone tries NV40. I'll  if i have some, no matter which...

Well from what I heard the 6800 might run into power issues getting that die size vpu running at 600. Time will tell. Remeber the 6800 comsumes a 110 watts at stock speeds. I wonder how that will come into play when overclocking is applied??
There is no way in hell the 6800 ULTRA will overclock higher than the X800XT. If that where so it wouldn´t be clocked at 400 and nVidia wouldn´t have trouble getting 6850:s out the door.
