I plan on buying one, but I'm kind of disappointed that ATI is already shipping some of their video cards, while Nvidia has yet to deliver one. I was under the impression that the Nvidia cards would be shipping early-mid may when the info on them leaked. Anyone have a guess when the 6800 GT will be released?

Search this forum, there are plenty of threads discussing the 6800 GT.

nvidia said to expect their cards about 45 days after they first turn up on hardware sites for previews and stuf like that. For memory the first real showings of the GT was about the 6th or so of May. Which you should start to see them at the end of June.

Yes, mid to late June.

Looks to me to be the card to get from what I have seen so far.

I think the X800P and the GT look like great cards

The X800 PRO may actually be better. It can even stand up to the 6800 Ultra in some cases.

we don't really know the full power of the 6800 as yet

still awaiting for DX 9.0c & newer drivers to see what could happen

I think the X800Pro will stand up against the 6800u quite well.
Even after the newer drivers and all come out.
Maybe not at 1600x1200 or higher but at lower res it
should do well.
ATI's super high clock speeds are keeping them
at the top of the charts. Heck I see some with Pro's
clocked at 580/580. :drooling:
I still play all my games at 1024 with high AA/AF.
So the X800Pro is what I'm getting this go around.
I'm saving my money this time and going for bang for the buck. :D
I just installed a new Prescott running at 3.5Ghz so even a Pro
should kick some ass in my rig. :drooling:

6800 ULTRA is probably the first card you will be able to get a hold on. Looks like it will arrive before the X800XT at least...

Why not a Northy? It overclocks just as well if not better and is faster in most games clock for clock. Not to mention extra heat, higher temps and power drain.

Well those Prescott don´t seem very well suited for games really. They get spanked by both lower clocked P4 Extreme editions and A64:s...

We won't know what the GT can do until it's released, but if the X800 PRO can stand up to even the 6800 Ultra, it should do even better against the 6800 GT. I think the GT will be better in older and OpenGL games while the X800 PRO will still do better in newer DX 9 games like Far Cry. :lol2:

I think i will be buying a RADEON X800 PRO for two reasons, A: it's cheaper then the GT, 2# peforms verywell @ 1280x1024 (LCD) 3# is out now, I have seen the prices of the 6800 GT & 6800Ultra and their was only £70 so it's not really worth it in a way.

No, it's not cheaper.
Don't know where you are looking, but Overclockers have the 800Pro for £296, yet the GT is about £289, last time I looked.

The Pro is higher clocked than the GT (about 125Mhz higher), and the GT still keeps up, and even surpasses it in many games. Now how do you think it would perform if it was clocked the same as the Pro ?

Eh ?
The difference between the 800XT, and the 6800 Ultra is about £30. So quite where your prices are coming from, is anybody's guess.

Last place i looked it was £290 for the Pro & £334 for the GT.

If your overclocking the GT to 480mhz which sounds very hard to do mainly due to having only 1 molex connector, you have to bear in mind that the X800 pro will also overclock very nicely.

The 6800GT will stand to gain slightly more as core clock increases vs X800 Pro when overclocked, as fillrate will increase at a different rate, since we are comparing a 16 pipeline part to a 12 pipeline part.

Are there any benchmarks showing the GT against the Non-Ultra ?

As far as I know, there have not been any benches of the 6800 [Non-Ultra].

Don't you think it's kind of pointless to argue about the price of two cards that aren't widely available yet, especially when one of them probably won't be widely available for at least a month? Not to mention the fact that because they aren't widely available, most places are overcharging quite a bit.

That's not right. £ is not the symbol for the Euro.

247.50 GBP United Kingdom Pounds = 435.091 USD United States Dollars

Besides, I wouldn't go by their prices for US prices anyway. They're charging £208 ($365) for Logitech Z-680's but you can get them at newegg for only $265, they're charging $100 more.
