Just looking for some feedback...

In your opinion, are any of the paid services such as Gamespot Complete, IGN Insider, Fileplanet worth it? Feel free to mention any others as well.

Discuss. :)

Not IMO. That lesson was learnt from the dot com crash. People wont pay for web sites as long as there are alternatives offering the same content for free.

True enough but there does appear to be content available (especially around E3 type events) that other sites will never have or much later at best.

I have paid for IGN Insider for about 1.5 years. It isn't very expensive and I often view things that are "Insider Only". You can also use search features in the VN boards which I use somewhat frequently. I think the service is worth the money.

I think Gamespot in general is kinda crappy and have no desire to subscribe to their services.

I am also a IGN Insider and I have to admit it that it was worth every it especially during this E3. You got major presentations in full (hours), hi-res clips you can download, the video/comparison reviews and the many guides they have which are not just typed up in black and white but are like store bought guides fancy and all. Also when you join you get membership to EGM which for console lovers is worth it alone.

I joined a a while back and at first I was apprehensive but with all the stuff I get, what I paid seemed very inexpensive like monkeydust said. If you join one I say go with them Max it will pay for itself.

I'm sure those of us who do not subscribe are missing out on some inside information. At least we can thank Jarred and JaKUp for providing us some nice pics of E3!

While i refuse to subscirbe to FilePlanet/Gamespy, i do subscribe to the underdog Fileshack, their no nonsence attitude and blazing fast servers is right up my ally.

Also the have the best website out of all of them.. The REST are deisgned towards delivering ads, while fileshack is just towards files.

However, the dont really get exclusive content like the other places so i dunno.

Thanks Monkey and Liquid. And yeah Glowstick, I use Fileshack's free service (I usually only wait in line for 10 minutes at the most, usually less than 1 minute).

I used to have Fileplanet but that was when I actually had a bank account/debit card. Tell you the truth, if I need to download a patch or demo, I check 3DGamers first, WaitPlanet second. If the wait is too long, I hit Overnet or BitTorrent and avoid FileShack. I'd rather wait longer at Fileplanet (or Overnet/BitTorrent) and possibly hit a download at 200+KB a second than wait less and have my download capped at 50-100KBs at FileShack. :D

Fileshack has the fastist downloads when you subscribe, my cable is capped at 350k and i get exactly that 350k down. I need to find a faster source to test my subscription!

Yeah Psy I agree. But I'm also interested in some of the "premium or sneak peek" content that becomes available from time to time. :)
