I'm looking for a really good pinball game for the PC. What's the best one on the market today?

I wouldn't say it's the best, but KISS Pinball is cheap and fun. Especially for KISS fans.

Any of the Propinball series are drop dead beautiful and fun to play.

The Web - a little long of tooth but still fun to play
Timeshock - absolutely stunning to look at and great game play
Big Race - Very nice looking and fun (a little complicated for my tastes)
Fantastic Journey - Stunning graphics but my least favorite of the series

Microsoft Pinball Arcade does a nice job recreating actual tables.

Here's my favorite site dedicated to PC pinball:

http://www.pcpinball.com/reviews/english/sims/pptw.html

They rate a bunch of games.

Good luck,
AWII

I agree the gameplay of fantastic journey was crap compared to especially Timeshock but also big race USA.

I would pick Timeshock any day

I highly reccommend Adventure Pinball. Me and Sat played that thing for months before we got tired of it. It should be in the bargin bin by now, so you can pick it up cheap.

Take a look at www.pinmame.com if you're interested in PC simulation of tables you own.

Pinball Illusions and Pinball Fantasy are perhaps not up to date, but they still bring that nostalgic arcade feeling. Also, recent emulators (eg. DOSBox) does a darn good job in scaling EGA/VGA graphics for recent machines, so I'd really give these games a closer look if I were in your shoes. Probably really cheap nowadays, or even released for free on eg. Abandonware. Oh, for Windoze I prefer the one that came with XP. Erhm, Cadet, right?

This is what I was thinking. There is no such thing. Either you play a real pinball machine or you drink new Fetus Pepsi.

If you're still looking, I might be able to assist.. I have a pinball blog (http://docpinballz.blogspot.com/), that is pretty much it, now that the "House Of Pin' (pcpinball.com) has bit the dust for good..

Plus, besides reviews of games, and flash pinballs on the page, to while away the time, I have actually got several hundred different pinball CDs I'm getting rid of (in fact, *every* pinball ever released on CDrom), if you want to try them out for yourself..
You also may want to visit this German site, pinball maniac..
I will get back with the address for it soon, if you are interested...

+1. Even 17 years later, I still play them. (Back then in an Amiga 500 and then 1200, and now the PC versions.)

There's also Psycho Pinball. The third pinball game I still play. IMO those are the three best pinball games ever made.

I was in love with the 2 pinball games that epic released.. they were good tables mixed with awesome cg dot matrix boards, and MOD based music. It was as close to modern tables as pinball games got.

These days I havnt seen anything on pc, but there are a series of pinball games on the iOS platform that are AAA+ stuff.

What was the PC pinball game that pushed sample music out of the PC's beeper (speaker)?

That **** was awesome at the time.
