yup - tested them and sadly they are no different to 61.11 for me:-(

FarCry fog bug is still present.

Some guys over @ Guru 3D have had good results it seems for the 5900XT cards.

bit gutted the FarCry problems are still there :bash:

i wonder why nview has been removed from the CP

errrm - it has????

are you sure - nview is present in my control panel :screwy:

yes. I uninstalled 61.11 and ran Driver Cleaner in Safe Mode. Let me also remind you I am running Server 2003.

Bugs fixed in 61.12;
Halo - no more rainbow colored textures
nVidia Vulcan Demo - no longer lags with nView enabled (this may have been fixed on previous 6 series FW, I'm not exactly sure)

Other bugs still remaining in 61.12;
nView - application crash (i.e. notepad)
Joint Ops Demo - misrendered sky near water
Far Cry Demo - shaders fubar
Toca Race Driver 2 - 4x Antialiasing makes screen flash
nV Control Panel - Selecting 8xS Antialiasing yields 8x in Direct3D

P.S. - could someone make this thread sticky? in stead of 61.11?

New cards supported(as seen from the inf):

NVIDIA_NV41.DEV_00C0.1 = "NVIDIA NV41"
NVIDIA_NV41.DEV_00C1.1 = "NVIDIA NV41 "
NVIDIA_NV41.DEV_00C2.1 = "NVIDIA NV41 "
NVIDIA_NV41.DEV_00C8.1 = "NVIDIA NV41 "
NVIDIA_NV41.DEV_00CE.1 = "NVIDIA NV41GL"

Can this be the 6600/6700 of the NV4x range? :clap:

What specific issues did you encounter?

no games will run & juz give a blank screen when tab is set to 'High Performance' & games only run when set to 'Quality' mode

and on the 56.72 i can run F1 Challenge with 4x AA 8x AF + trilinear filtering smoothly & it lags on the 61.12's

still awaiting the final release of the drivers & hope GLSL gets fully implemented too

it could well be it
the mid range cards could probably be 8x1??

seems to be missing from display properties CP untill you enable nview (via nview control pannel or any other way).

I finally bought Far Cry full version today. It looks spectacular with these drivers, even so with the no fog bug! Much, much better than the demos (that for some annoying reason have forced pixel shader 1.1 on the entire FX series. Luckily, I had gotten around that by running 3d Analyze and typing a couple commands in the console to give me Pixel shader 2.0. I mean, come on, was it really necessary to force PS 1.1 on the nv35 and nv38?! Helllllll no!)

There are still a few bugs overall in these BETA drivers, but with FarCry running smooth as silk @ 1280 x 1024, 4x multisampling, 4x anisotropic, vsync, & Very High details (audio too) on my FX 5900 and AMD 1800+ I am grateful. It makes me feel a lot more comfortable about playing the upcoming DX9 titles on my system (with a card that supposedly sucked [past tense] in DX9). All I have left to say is Keep up the great work nV!

Amazing performance you got there with only Athlon 1800+.
Any chance to get some benchmark numbers?

I used to run Aquamark, in which my highest score was approx 44,000. But even though game performance went up, benchmark performance seemed to stay the same or go down. So I don't run benchmarks anymore, because as you can see they don't seem to reflect true performance I am getting in games. I can say that performance in FarCry seems to be well over 30fps a majority of the time. I can tell it falls a little below this at times, but still remains to be very playable for me (even in major battles). I am very impressed how well my CPU perform at this game, especially since I am just barely making the recommended requirements. :)

I do not have fubar shaders in Far Cry, but then I am NOT running the patched 1.1 verison. I am waiting for the 1.2 patch AND direct x9.0c before I apply.

Is brilinear still force with these? I know it was in 61.11's and I won't keep them for that reason. If it is so in these I am back to 60.72.

Oh and gig of ram is night and F'n day in Far Cry. It has a 550 commit charge under windows XP with only 14 processes active. I don't know how people let the normal 40 processes run under XP > Bleh..

the shaders work great in the full version w/patch. i only had those problems with the demo, but like i say i got around those by forcing ps 2.0 on the game (by using Radeon 9800 pro device ID). now that i have the full version, i dont have those problems but i do see a couple things wrong...

1. green bushes appearing in the distant fog as if the fog not rendering correctly
2. helicopter shadow not rendered correctly

However, its entirely possible that there is nothing wrong with the driver and it is related to the games LOD settings. I have to test those and post back.

As far as filtering is concerned, I think its going to be hard to actually tell any difference between brilinear and trilinear on these sets of drivers.

Rewt, try this:

http://www.tweakguides.com/Farcry_1.html

It is a tweak guide that explains all the advanced settings in Far Cry and much more. Far Cry is actually mostly a 1.1 game. You are going to get the most PS 2.0 use with lighting on very high, and shadows as well, I have those cranked up along with the water and textures. Its a fecking beautiful game. I once got owned by a Trigen staring at the water at night watching the moon/clouds etc.

and yes the brilinear Nvidia uses now IS refined it is not the older version.

thanks for the guide. its awesome!

FYI, i went back to 52.16 and the fog problem disappeared.. but overall the game still looks and performs better with 61.12.

Rewt did you try setting that r_volumetric_fog setting to 1?

You want an FPS hit? Set you water update to like 0.001. heh. :D

I tweaked alot of settings. Especially lighting, reflections, view distance, environmental detail, heat haze, 'update' speeds for effects.

Try running your game in 'enhanced' mode as well. Make damn sure this is on 32> r_Colorbits [8,16,24,32]

Is AA working in Far cry with these drivers?

set AA to high. cant force AA with Control panel :(

If you set it to 6xAA in the controler panel and to the highest AA setting in farcry, will it still be using AA?
