I am currently running a Quadro4 700 XGL, can anyone advise what my next upgrade should be. I've been looking at reviews in magazines and on the net but I'm still not sure what to go for. I'm looking to get a decent Nvidia AGP 8x card but don't want pay more than £100.

Thanks in advance

Depends on what you're going to be doing. If it's professional/3D modeling work you would best be advised to stick with what you have as you won't find any better pro cards for the price you list.

If you want a card for any other reason, you should spend a little more money and purchase a GeForce FX 5900XT. Those can be had for about US$180 and give good performance for the money.

Other than that, the next generation cards won't hit your price point for many months yet.

I want the card to play games like farcry and Battlefield Vietnam. I won't be doing any modelling/rendering with it.

Then your choices are :-

Rad 9600, 9800 or a FX 5700/5900XT.

The 9600/9800 will depend on whats around, you may get a 9800SE for under £100 and you just might be able to scrape a 9600XT for £100. Out of those two the 9600XT is better unless you fancy trying ur hand at modding and overclock to turn the SE into a PRO, and i dont think that works on every model. If you really have to get an NVIDIA card then the 5900XT or the 5700Ultra can be had for £100 ish. You are more likley to find the 5700 for UNDER £100 though than u are the XT, the XT's are about £120-150.

A good idea though would be to stick that Quadro on ebay, make some quick £££ and add it to ur £100 - then get a 9800 PRO which will make playing FarCry a whole lot more fun. They retail for only £130-140 nowerdays. Excellent value.
