Sadly, the X800XT didn't do much better

With a 700 to 800 core clock I would hope it would reach 14k. ;)

Heh, there was kinda a press release and a 'event' of that right after the launch i think, kinda old news.
THe Pro is new however!
I also feel 2k 3dmark03's is a big deal!
Its his processor that's doing it. That system is mine with the 6800Ultra( I think). I didn't think they were going to accept it because I didn't use the approved drivers.
Well if the CPU is the limiting factor we are all screwed, they used a P4EE at 4.4 gigz. 16774 for the XT is kick ass if you ask me.

Yeah but it was clocked twice as fast as mine. If he had the 6800ultra on his machine he would of gotten a better score than mine. Why do say his CPU is the limiting factor??? Mine was the limiting factor because it wasn't overclocked like his.
I could have been more clear, what I am saying is if a P4EE@4.4 gigz is still cpu limiting the GPU then we are all screwed.

I'm not sure why you are saying if a P4EE@4.4 is still cpu limiting the GPU. That's not clear to me or your reasoning.
i disregard any 3d mark scores i see now-a-days. people seem to think it's a video card only benchmark, when really it's *severely* affected by processor speed, ram speed, amount of ram, etc.
a geforce 3 ti200 gets around 2,000 3dmarks on a celeron machine, put it into an xp2400 machine and it magically jumps to 7K 3dmarks. not saying it's not an accomplishment, just saying that's not just the video card doing that.
edit: for clarity, i'm speaking of 3dmark2001se, heh.

LOL did I say a P4EE@4.4 was limiting the GPU? Nooo, I never said that. I said IF. I don't know if the cpu is holding back the GPU, I doubt it. But IF and only IF it is then what I am saying is for the rest of us we will never see the full potential of a new 6800 or X800 because who amoung us is going to have a 4.4 gigahurtz P4 anytime soon.

I agree that it does throw off some of the result's. That's why the card reviewers use the same computer (with listed specs) when reviewing two cards. In situations like these, the complete computer specs need to be known (as posted), in order to understand the results shown. You see how Macci obtained the score, therefore You know what You need to do to beat it. Now break out those cascading phase change unit's. :)

? Ultra? 6800? did I miss somthing?. I see no Nvidia cards in the benches. Which is yours?.

i understand that, heh. i wasn't saying that the results are wrong or something, i'm just saying i disregard the "accomplishment" of this. it's like saying "omg 15,000 3dmarks because of audigy sound card, w00t"... the sound card isn't why it's getting those 3dmarks any more than it is the video card (ok, that was a hell of an exaggeration... i know, lol). maybe a more proper wording would be "i'm not impressed"

I actually thought the core clock was more interesting than the score. But, man to think I just hit 14000 in 2001se last year. :)
heh, yea -- but for my personal preferences (i'm not a picky guy) a geforce 3 ti200 would be plenty for me even now, even for farcry. i don't care about af and aa so much -- yea, it looks nicer, but only a little. it doesn't improve your ability to play the game. i just upgraded from my ancient 800mhz dell with a geforce 2 mx400, and it was nice indeed :D. i feel i will not need another upgrade in many years to come, and even then i could just upgrade the video card for pretty cheap (dont let me fool you, i'm going to buy the new nvidia card when i get the money, lol).
ermmm, right, lemme translate again. though you only hit 14,000 last year, 14,000 isn't even used in most games now. if you get 14k 3dmarks in se, then if i were guessing you could play doom 3 just fine, as long as you dont mind not running at 1600x1200 with 4xaa/8xaf and all of the in-game settings maxed out.

Dang.... If a 4Ghz CPU is the limiting point on these cards
I'm screwed with only a 3.5Ghz Prescott.
I guess it's time for me to get better cooling. :)
Change the thread title so that it shows it's 3dmark03. Some people can't be bothered to click the link and see it's 3dmark03 and not 3dmark01

You are a true gamer, putting aside the graphics for game play. Unfortunatly, I'm an eye candy addict. I was doing pretty good untill farcry. :)

Those scores are nice but I am more impressed with a score on a system that is actually intact and not with parts scattered across a table, submerged in mineral spirits, etc.

It's not working. It only shows the 2003 part in my first post.
