Hi all. I am new here. My name is Michael and i'm italian, as you can easily understand by my english :D. I was wondering if the next directx set will improve the PS 2.0 performance or if this is only a rumor. What do you think about it? Bye all!

I really doubt it will give any kinda performance boost to PS2.0

From what i see Sc0rP|oN, your english is at least as good as mine. :)

IIRC DX9c is primarily for the introduction of SM 3.0 in this API among other changes that maybe introduced. but probably DX9 performance on NV3X will remain the same with this version.

heard some new capabilities are enabled on the NV3X after DX9.0c is loaded

Im running the DirectX 9.0c beta. I gave the an extra 150 points in 3dmark03 but lowered my UT2004 performance  . What a trade off. Remember this was just a beta, I doubt there will be a performance drop when the full thing is released.

Shader performance issues are an inherent flaw in the GeForce FX architecture. No amount of software updates is going to cure the fundamental problems without major compromises.

So, short answer to your question - no, DX9c probably will not offer any tangible benefts to the NV3x.

Whatt-o Saturnotaku-o said-o.

Pretty good italian, eh? :D

Just kidding. ;)

I'd pass on the 5900 XT if I were you and wait for either a 6800 Series price drop, or get a 9800 Pro for $200 (US).

Yeah but if you consider that the majority of games is written in dx, this is not very important according to me.

personally, i'd wait a bit for NV41 instead of getting R3X0/NV3X.

2 things.. in unreal 2004 with 9.0c i get 10 more fps. woohoo for me. and about the nv3x and ati stuff.... i think i am gonna hold off, even thought i could do an even trade... cuase i just cant risk doom 3 really loving my 5900

Same reason Im keeping my 5900 Zoomy, for Doom3 and Q4

Plus with all due respect, Im tired of hearing how bad GFFX 5900's are. Mine benchmarks in the 6000 range in 3D Mark 2003 and runs all my games FANTASTIC! It is a damn good card!

Nv41 won't be a pci-express solution? If so i've to change my mobo also.

i have been told that the painkiller game has similar performance to what the doom 3 game will be like.. if so, the ati's have yet another da*n win

I'm skeptical about that. Painkiller does very little dynamic lighting....it's mostly pre-baked lightmaps with the occasional stencil shadow. I don't think it does bumpmapping either, except maybe on the player's weapon. It seems very different from Doom 3 to me.

Heh, I'm kinda thinkin the AMP2 demo by 4DRulers is slightly indiciatve of what to expect... I know it could be better coded, but all I'm trying to say is... wow, taxing... very very taxing...

I have to agree. The rendering techniques in AMP2 look very similar to those in Doom3.

If Doom3 runs like PainKiller my computer will play it fantastic! At 1024 x 768 I had no problem running the pain killer demo with everything maxxed :)

Everything I have read leads me to believe that Doom3 should run great on GFFX cards, particularly 5700 and 5900 series, but even 5600 cards (just not at very high resolutions).
