nVidia and Slackware 9.0beta

Ive been fighting this problem for some time now, and finally decided to make a post. Im running Slackware 8.1 current (9.0beta) and my Hercules 3D Prophet II MX 64MB does not want to work. When the X server is started, It scans all modes but selects the worst one each time. I think ive installed every version of the nVidia drivers and I get the same thing. I can't get any resolution better than 400x or maybe 600x800, whatever it is it got to go. Ive tried to compile my own rpm but have had no luck with dependecies. Hope some can lend some helpful thoughts. Thanks!

Please post a copy of your /var/log/XFree86.0.log file.

X chooses the mode to use based on the order you put them in your XF86Config-4 file. The first mode listed will be the first one X tries to use. So if you list them in descending order, that might help.
