View Full Version : NV40's IQ issue in Farcry related to AA setting?

One friend of mine just did a few tests concerning NV40 and Farcry, he found that once set AA to medium or above in the game, some artifacts in Farcry will be gone:
all shots were taken on 6800Ultra with 61.11 driver and Farcry is patched to 1.1

set AA to low in Farcry:

force 9800 ID through 3d analyer, set AA to none:

for 9800 ID, set AA to low:

As you can see, either force 9800 ID or set AA to medium+ can remove the artifact in this particular scene. BTW, force higher precision through 3d analyzer doesn't remove the artifact, it seems not to be rendering precision related.

61.11 disabled AA set in CP when playing farcry, but the guy set AA in the game, there should be no problem.

I'm not so sure. Known 61.11 driver bugs:

117597 [TWIMTBP]NV40,WinXP: Corruption when trying to take a screenshot with AA enabeld in Far Cry.

117561 [TWIMTBP]NV38/40,WinXP: Corruption of some weapons in Far Cry.

117474 [TWIMTBP]NV40,WinXP: Fog broke in Far Cry.

113476 NV38/40-WinXP: Lighting/shadow problem in FarCry.

117575 [TWIMTBP] NV40/38: Banding visible from wall in FarCry.

Only moron would use AA through the game, but not through ATI or NVIDIA Display Control Panel...
