View Full Version : High Clocked P3's Benching High High Scores??
When I posted a 3Dmark score last week, I was thrilled at my results for my processor speed, but was alarmed (suprised) at the avg. scores for some PIII's with my same vidcard. These things were clocked @ 1.7 & 1.8 ghz!! Who'se clocking these? or are they just single/dual Xeons or something? I'm scared but intrigued!

I wouldn't be surprised if they're Tualatin cored p3's.
The Tualatin core (.13 micron, 512k L2 cache) is quite nice.

and expensive :D
ya, they had to be Tualtins, they run at pretty cool temps. So figure if they got a nice 1.4ghz tualatin, and OC it a little bit than you got a DAMN fast PIII system. And yes, it's extrmemly expensive to do this. I doubt those were liquid nitrogen scores you saw, only people that don't mind spending a fortune on an old chip.
In reality though, the PIII was a better designed chip than P4. About the only problem I see with it is the slower FSB, and no DDR support. Other than that, I wouldn't mind having a 1.4ghz PIII system :D
anybody a lotto winner? LOL They start at $210... bleh... I guess I'd rather buy a AthlonXP2400 at that price

I have a 1.3 Tualtin Celeron that will over clock to 1.820 but I have to up the core voltage to 1.65 to get it to run stable, so I am sure the Tualtin PIII 1.3 will overclock great.
