My mother called to wish me happy birthday today. In any case, she was telling me about Mark (one of my brothers), who well is a police officer in Trenton, NJ. From what she was saying, he was rather upset, she didn't get all the details, but it sounds like something is up...

He recently was sent in to deal with a number of (I'm not sure if they're in a gang or what), but in the process of dealing with it, one pulled a knife on him, which was in the assailants shoe or something... This isn't an isolated incident either, and the criminals down there have become rather more dangerious and are better armed from what she suggested.

Meanwhile, well I asked if they were being trained to deal with this/disarm some of these assailants. She mentioned that someone (higher up then the police chief, she suggested connected with the mayor, though I'm wondering govenor?) insists on going out to observe these officers in person, and if they don't do everything, exactly his way, they can pretty much expect to sit back in the station...from the sound of it they aren't allowed to defend themselves from an armed assailant and are under close scrutiny.

From what was said, the police chief (this comes from above his head) and police captain have pretty much been taken out of commission or something. Albert (another brother of mine), who is a detective in the same PD has said someone is going to die there most likely, before things get corrected. He also filed for disability (something to do with his leg) and hopes to weather this, until situations improve. Mark is apperently having nightmeres every night of dieing now, and doesn't expect to survive the summer...

Paul (brother and law) who was a seargant last I heard at the Summit, NJ PD, had according to mom mentioned that they haven't seen any of these changes yet in his department, though the same man has jurisdiction over there (which is what makes me think this goes beyond mayor). Police commissioner or someone? WTF is going on there now, anyone have an idea? This is about all I got second hand, considering everything...

So what did your brother do? Did he shoot the guy, play hide the knife in my belly or what. You left the story open or am I missing something?

From what I gather, my brother's partner got him before all was done. This is about as much as I was told. Apperently my brother was rather upset (and is in fear for his life, as other people in the dept seem to be now) and so didn't mention everything. My mother mentioned some of this in passing when we were on the phone today.

The "story" isn't exactly over...both my brothers who work in the Trenton, NJ police dept think some officer will have to be killed on duty before something is done. I'm sorta asking, because I don't exactly know what's going on there, or why a couple of my brothers are scared for their lives (while some higher level official, above the chief is breathing down everyone's neck, threatening certain action if everything isn't done his way, which seems to include...); and why one is dreaming of being murdered (I gather while on duty) every night he closes his eyes

I lived in NJ till 1988, but no idea what's going on now. I guess I'm trying to understand what the hell is going on there, and just what it is this superior is putting everyone through (even having taken action against the police chief I gather, when he didn't just go along with all of this...) Just what are the circumstances there in his community and area? Anyone who lives in New Jersey currently know of anything?
