Hey all,

I was wondering what everyone thinks is the best (reasonably priced) 17-19" LCD out there... I especially like widescreen, but I haven't seen any decent 19"ers... my 17" Philips 170W4P is great, especially for movies and games that support the resolution (Grand Theft Auto looks AWESOME), but for my scene design work i need more room...

And ideas?

Well I can't recommend anything specific, but make sure whatever you buy you get the lower MS refresh you can find. The lower the MS, the better for games and video.

And as for brands, I like Sony, NEC/Mitsubishi, & Viewsonic

Samsung 193P might be a good choice, low response time (20 ms), 250cd/m2 contrast and 800:1 brightness seems quite good.
Also Toms Hardware (http://www4.tomshardware.com/display/20040326/lcd-04.html) seems to like it...

Edit:
If you're a gamer, you might want to have a look at a 16 ms 17" monitor.
I choose the Samsung, because it have such a low response time, otherwise I'd bought a 19" Philips monitor, but they had only 25 ms monitors, at least I didn't find any Philips 19" monitor with lower response time...

I wouldn't get a LCD with over 16ms response.

This Philips looks sweet: digitimes.com (http://www.digitimes.com/NewsShow/Article4.asp?datePublish=2004/05/25&pages=A8&seq=50)

Royal Philips Electronics has launched 19-inch LCD monitors with a 12ms response time (190S5CS), according to the company.

12ms

It sure does seems like a good choice, now if they only had sold it when I ordered mine...
