This site is a great site. There are many people who think this sites bans too much. Most of this site's bans come from people who were already banned. Many people think this site bans any person who posts negative nVIDIA stuff. This is simply not true. I hate it when people flame this site because it "bans so many people". I bet this site hasn't banned anyone in a long time(besides people who were already banned).

A good portion of those people we've banned more or less subconsciously anticipate being banned at some point. Follow with me here for a sec: Communication begins in the head. Whatever a person intends to say or write is all pre-meditated to some degree in their head. They just have to fill in the details from Point A to Point B, etc. It is at that stage where the voice of conscience speaks up in their heads, too, and that voice usually says either, "That looks like a well-thought out response on my part! A good quality post!" or "This'll probably get me raked over the coals or banned!!"

The bottom line? Simple -- those people we've banned had that latter thought float accross their minds just before clicking the "Submit" button ... and didn't care. They clicked "Submit" before the voice of reason could pipe up! And they continue to ignore that voice even though the "EDIT" button is staring them dead in the face. These people are usually given so much rope here by us that -- true to the old adage -- they eventually hang themselves with. So, instead of arguing/proselytizing to them ... we just oblige them!! ;)

Psy is well-seated on his rocker! :) Well said. I never have any personal vendetta against anyone. There are no strings pulled or reasons to wear tin foil hats as some like to imagine. I've learned from this. My mistakes don't define me, they inform me. A better approach can (and will) be exercised in the future.

People who dont like this site, Tend to try create as much drama as possible, You will find the people who scream the loudest are always heard.

It doesnt matter if what they are saying is relevent, or if they are even right.

I "like" nvnews, I always have, When I first came to this site over a year ago, Something about it stood out to me. The community was friendly, The mods treated you well, And I was able to communicate with them. They always communicated back with me. If there was a problem. I took it to them in PMs. Nine times out of ten the staff here bent over backwards to help me.

You may not like the decisions mods make some of the time. But you should respect them. The mods work everyday to try an ensure the community upholds a certain level common respect among members, Because once respect goes out the door. Then The communities go to hell.

going along with chris here...

I enjoy the community... there are some rough spots (ie dialogue in the political forums) but name one similar forums on the internet that is open and does not have similar strife?

other than that we have over the years had good contributions and continue to get good contributions from various elements...

some people choose to blatantly violate guidelines and proper netiquette when they feel they are being slighted and it is these elements who spread FUD...

I am regularly active on www.osnn.net and www.nvnews.net... I post on a part-time basis @ r3d (enjoyable segments of the forums though the sheer number of members and the ridiculous rate @ which they post there frighten me)... b3d (knowledgeable community with the pre-requisite bad apples becoming more abundant lately but still one of the most professional forums I visit... enjoyable) and the msi and anandtech forums (both very very rarely... only when required in the case of msi's or when really really bored in the case of AT's)

the abundance of whiners on the internet is expected and chris is right saying those who scream the loudest usually are the ones that get heard... :)

the best thing I like here is that no matter what happens the mods do not allow the bad-mouthing of other forums as should be the case...

we may not always like each other or agree with each other but hell its fun just hammering out arguments :)

I love it because it's one of a few sites left, that you can talk about ANY hardware. Whether it's nVidia, ATI, Matrox.
Look at the front page and you'll see links to all the major gfx card reviews. Now goto Rage3D, and see how many nVidia reviews there are.
I like the front-page layout, and the way it's put in categories.
And we all know Mike is a cool guy who will buy whatever Mike likes, beit ATI or nVidia.
Where else do you get a fan based website, where the owner buys whatever the owner feels is best for him ?

Here's to another few years.

I'm glad you appreciate the support. This site rocks. I first came to this site to get away from the NV3x flaming but that didn't work out too well so I was convinced that NV3x was worse than R3x0. I'm glad this site is finally what it's supposed to be, an nVIDIA fansite and not the nVIDIA flamesite it was last year.

It's all about being intellectually honest. People come to NvNews because we call things straight down the middle. We're not going to kiss any ass because we don't like our asses kissed. If nVidia or ATI drops the ball, we'll let you know why and in detail. Same thing if they do something right! What we won't do is let those things cloud our judgement. For example, if Nvidia or ATI drops the ball, we're not gonna get all reactionary and say, "Bah! Humbug!! Jen Hsun/Terry Makedon's children should starve!!!" or what have you.

Some websites tolerate such conduct among their staff and forum community.

We're not one of them! :)
We ban those people! :D

I thought Digi was expressing his views about stuff in another uncensored forum and Mike got pissed off and banned him from here? Digi didn't seem to know about it until afterwards?

Better add Digi to the nVNews obituary page! (mag) ;)

he appeared to request as much on several occasions both here and elsewhere... unfortunately his psots are no longer available to hold up as proof but suffice it to say most of the regs saw it often enough...

as digi himself has said he was surprised it didn't happen sooner so obviously he was kind of expecting it :)

as far as the obituary page goes... some people make a bigger deal out of things than others...
