I'm just wondering if anyone has tried running Halo on the 6800 ultra. My evga 6800 ultra seems to be working fine except for Halo. I'm using the 61.32 drivers, and haven't had time to try any others. When Halo starts I get the following:

Halo - Fatal Error
Machine info 2400, 1024mb, nvidia geforce 6800 ultra (0x0040)
Problem: we have detected that one of the Halo PC files is missing or corrupted. We recommend removing and reinstalling the game. (shaders/fx.bin)

Uninstalling and reinstalling makes no difference. I've tried both the original install and also the latest patch. I've even tried underclocking with no effect.

Could someone else try this? I've noticed no other problems thus far.

No, I'm running dx9.0b. Should that make a difference?

Update: Halo's working fine with the 61.40 drivers. I'll swap back to the 61.32's later to see if it was a driver problem or something else that got fixed when I uninstalled/reinstalled drivers.

BTW, Halo performance is outstanding. 1280x960 with anisotropic filtering enabled, ps 2.0 and all video settings maxed I'm getting 89fps in the benchmark test. IIRC I was getting around 83fps with my X800 Pro at 510/1050 and cat4.5 beta drivers.

If it's working in the 61.40s, I can confirm it's a bug with 61.32. I just got my 6800U, installed the 61.32s and got the same error. I'll try the 61.40s later - right now I'm on to Far Cry. :)

Thanks for the feedback. I hope this isn't going to be a problem with the new drivers that are supposed to be released soon.
