Conductive pens.. Are you trying to unlock the extra 4 pipelines in a pro?
it would appear to be the case...
perhaps a few pics mal while yer at it.. for before and after...
btw did you check your core to see if it was the right one?

No I did not check the number, I didn't intend on trying the mod, however now the geek in me is saying 'Go, for it dude!' :D
I have a very good coat of arctic silver 5 on it I am not disturbing til the pens arrive. As far as the number goes I have heard of a fellow with other than a '1' at the end unlocking his card. We will see.
Honestly, all you need to do is take the coating off the two tips then paint a line between connecting them. No reason to dig a ditch in your card. I can always remove the paint if it fails. I may take off alittle of the coat if it does fail first time out. As long as care is taken I see no reason for the card to be damaged beyond use.
I am not planning on flashing it, as the flashing causes annoying messages and effects. A bad flash could actually be more dangerous than the paint. I just want the 16pipes, I don't care what the card is called. I want 16 at 540/1120. I will have something to post by this Thurday/Friday for sure.
Malficar I am not sure if this is true, but from what I have read you don't need to scrape away any coatings on the contact pads they already exposed just paint on the conductive stuff. Just a heads up, of course I cannot verify if this is true but something to keep in mind. I did talk to a guy that scraped the pads and ended up scraping the entire contact away. He told me it did not take much scraping and the pad was gone.

Very well, I will take the safest approach first. I will look at them much more closely when the pens arrive. You can rest assured I won't be gouging or hacking away on the card. I hope the quality paint works. I understand about 12-15 mins to become conductive and roughly 45mins or more for a safe set. I will likely just wait an hour.

Oh well,
This is not going to happen. I am selling the Pro, eventhough it's a great card. I have the GT locked in at 299usd and want to upgrade my CPU to a 3.4c soon. So two new cards ain't happening for awhile. I think the GT for 299 is ultimately the better deal. Rig number two's gonna have to suffer.
Does that mean you got in on the BB deal?

I am sure I was one of the first 10 to order. *evil grin* I have checked my order yet again today and it is still 'in progress' and says 319usd with next day air. Looks like stalking the forums finally paid off.
I plan on mating the GT with a 3.4c.<(Why I am having to let go of the Pro, aka limited funds at the moment)
Hope it works out. I wish I had jumped on that deal but I kept thinking it was going to be another offer withdrawn because of some "mistake".
I can understand the limited funds. I was planning on upgrading both of my systems around the same time but I think I'm going to have to stagger it. Car troubles have just sucked a ton of money down the drain unfortunately.

The pins work great. :)
I got 2 a while back from radio shack.
Good luck on the mod. ;)
I'm just going to get a 6800GT.
The heck with paying 450+ for a 12pipe card.

*Chuckles* I didn't pay 450. It was 416 with the shipping etc. Anywho the GT I am getting for 299usd is definitely a better deal. I couldn't turn down the 16 pipes and SM 3.0 for that. Since I can't have two cards right now and upgrade the CPU in this rig to a 3.4c. I'll have to 'settle' with a GT.
