According to this B3d discussion dynamic branching is only used for code reduction and is slower than static branching. Are there any situations where dynamic branching will have a big performance leap over static branching?

It's all well and nice to debate for pages about it, but honestly no one has any clue exactly how well it will work until some sm3.0 games come out. First one being FarCry 1.2 (end of this week) + nvidia 61.34 drivers (out now) + dx9.0c beta (floating around web).

This thread died back on April 11. I'm not saying that it is not relevant now...but many of the posts have a "we'll just have to wait and see" tone. Seems like Chalnoth's first post on the first page addresses this a bit.
