This calls for an old cadence I know...

There are no airborne rangers in the marine corps, hoo-ah!
There are no airborne rangers in the marine corps, hoo-ah!
Because they're all up in the sand
Making love to their hand!
There are no airborne rangers in the marine corps, hoo-ah!
Glorious victorious, one keg of beer for the four of us
Singing glory be to god that there are no more of us
Cause I swear i could drink it all down damn near pass the beer to the rear of the squadron

What is with the fetish of anime. I don't get it.

Here is a typical fight scene from that...one...show with those...guys who...turn into demons..

Guy1: I will defeat you with my finger zapper.

Guy2: I will defend by transforming into the most feared demon ever.

Guy1: thinks to him self as the camera closes in on him and he shakes with a surprised look on his face "I didn't know he was at that level. I need to call upon my go go gooo power"

Guy1: Tries to change but he can't for some unknown reason that is never explained.

Guy2: Thinks to him self "I have him were I want him I roxors he sux" Guy2 then attack and demolished Guy1 in a cloud dust that would wipe out the whole earth.

BUT WAIT! when the dust settles Guy1 is hovering above the ground all white and shiney and beaming with power.

Guy2: Is totaly surprised and in shock.

Guy1: attacks Guy2 with his ultimate power attack (remember Guy2 turned into that ultimate demon earlier but I guess it wasn't so ultimate) Guy2 is down BUT WAIT! he starts to transform AGAIN!

Camera cuts back to Guy1 who says "HOLY SH|TE"! to be continued...

I don't get it.

I think it's a fetish with DBZ. I love anime, but I hate DBZ. This is still one of my favorite Flash movies ever:

DBZ in a nutshell (http://www.virtualroofie.com/flash/dbz.htm)

Ya but you know what I mean by those type of anime cartoons. It drives me nuts with all the commentary they have in the show. They spend more time talking about their powers and little time using the.

I swear I saw a show once where teh two fighting stood there clinching their fist and shaking for a hour before they fought.:D

That would be about 99% of DBZ episodes. :lol2:

Obviously you don't see the same show with DBZ that I do :D Ah well, to each their own...

But Udawg, Anime really has a broad base of different shows. Unfortunately some aren't so common to end up in the US though. Saint Seiya evolved into, well it'd be hard to summarize without going into a bunch of different mythologies and stuff...

This is long and informative, though I don't go along with every statement he's made concering what I've seen...but chalk that up to how 2 peeps can watch the same thing, and get a slightly different take on some parts.

There's actually quite a bit out there, and it isn't all the same. Dark Knight is animated, though I'm not sure it's Japanese in origin however...

I remember watching an episode of DBZ 1 day. 2 days later, I watched it, and it was 99.8% the exact same scenario. :bash:

Hey I am not bashing the shows. Making fun of them yeah. It is just uninteresting to me. Though some times I watch them with my son.

I still like the classics. I am a big Tom & Jerry fan and Looney Tunes. Anything from the 40s-60s is awesome. The 70s Looney Tunes is ok.
Of course I loved the U Dog cartoon and a lot of Hanna Barbara.

That is true. I'm not bashing as I said in teh above post. :) I was just throwing out some random toughts.

We didn't have much anime when I was growing up. I don't think I am that much older than you, if I am at all but any way the only anime we had was Star Blazers (which I loved) and speed racer (which I didn't like that much).

Yeah, to each there own, as with any other form of entertainment. Was just pointing out that there is actually a wide range of different Anime out there.

The genere is actually pretty wide, as it includes what we would consider a bunch of different generes (some obviously not made for younger audiences at all). Japan has a big thing with things comming out in Manga (Japanese word for comic) and Anime, and they tend to borrow a lot off each other, as things evolve... They've also borrowed things from other cultures and welll... Animatrix is another one of those things, which many might not associate (and someone pointed out to me sometime back that some of the writting in the Matrix code was Japanese or something...)

It can include things from comedy, to sci-fi, to drama, action, etc... There's actually a fair amount of diversity, some of which has been of interest to Western media companies, and others...

Yeah, you're about a year older... And a lot of these shows we didn't have in the West then, as you pointed out...

I still remember parts of the Our Star Blazer's theme song. LOL I used to get up early to watch it. They just keep going and going and going.... I liked the wave motion gun though but it always broke down when they needed it, I always thought that was lame. :D

BTW this should not be called the "Bad news for Iraqi fighters" thread. Instead it should be called "The Thread We All Crapped IN" :D

I don't think I've seen that show before. I do have fond memories of watching Battlestar Galactica with my older brother though...

Yeah but those Seals can only sit around looking like pretty boys, they need some big ugly hulking Marines in to clean up :p
