i just got this game recently.. and im more than impressed with it.. :)
its the heaven for modern COmbat FLight SImulator fans.. the DEvleopers are Russian and have done a fantastic JOb re-creating as best posible everything a pilot will experience there..

graphics here dont do justice.. but here are some..

http://www.lo-mac.com/screenshots.php

what have impresed me about this game are..

-Graphics are truly awesome.. game have very detailed JEts with perpixel lighting ,High quality textures ,bumpmapping and realtime shadows everywhere.. :) the most detailed jets panels .. DYnamic CLouds ,that cast shadows on everything -whetaher effects ..and the best looking water in a flightsimulator game.. with waves. the game is very intensive with pixelshaders efects. at least a DX8.1 card you will need.

-SOunds --fantastic.. there is as much detail to sound effects there as to graphics.

-gameplay- couldnt be better ..:)

-realism.. a lot of attention is dedicated to realims alone.. albeit the game have options to play it easier ,(less realistic). DEvelopers even added more missions in the latest patch.. and more weapons..

-the game have THousans of Kilometeers real world terrain satelite data.. from RUssia.. not flat surface anymore.. there are plenty of areas to explore.. mountain

it seems that this game have all the wish list made in the past for a simulator together in one game..you can use Russian and American combat jets.. the F/15,A10,SU25/SU27/Mig29 .. the panels of the JEts are very detailed ..the Camera Views are simply revolutionary ..the game allows you too record your flights and see them in other angles and and even to make movies or edit them.. :)

here are some movies..

http://www.lo-mac.com/movies.php

the only Cons of the game is that still have bugs (like it happens with most games) that developers are working.. there are sound issues with some cards and some graphic glitches here and there with some drivers or hardware settings but neither of them are showstoppers. also it requires a very powerfull machines to play at highest quality settings.. plenty of RAM is HIghly Requested..the game use all the ram you have.. and good CPU or Video card too..

in simply words this game is FAntastic. much better than i thought ,the more i play it ,the more i like it.. who cares about DOOM3 now? nah.. just kidding..:D but finally got a game that will keep me busy more many many weeks/months.. since it also have multiplayer and a mission editor..its the new father in COmbat FLight simulators and should be on your collection if you are a FLight simulator Fan.. its the closest thing you will ever get in a PC to FLy Combat jets..

Thanks man! was looking for that demo for sometime :)

i like to see how the graphics look in that game (besides the screenshots) .. & of course its going to be a handy tool for measuring performance ;)

The game is really advanced in the gfx department, not all effects are even enabled in the curent build. If you turn on engine wash, it will bring your system to a crawl.

Try searching official LOMAC forums for custom missions, one mission has a bout a dozen TU 160 strategic bombers, carpet bombing a city.

Lomac IIRC is most DX8 game. but because of the huge terrain it renders..i think thats the reason why it brings any GPU to a crawl

Even older flight sims can still bring systems to their knees. Load up Falcon 4.0, crank up the res and effects, and see your framerate drop very low.

Or even better, trigger the -G4 parameter to unlock higher values for all the settings and enjoy the picture show lol. Always impressive watching a 1998 game bring a modern system falling to its knees.

Is the demo representative of the full version of the game? In other words, is it a close enough build to the full version to "true" enough for benchmarking?

Cool, I'll have to give it a spin. (salute)

The demo I believe was stated as being from around Beta 12, the Retail version was built from a beta in the mid 20's I think it was. The current patched 1.02 Retail Version will give better performance than the demo.

On max settings in an overcast sky over Sevastopol it will probably still give that rig a run for its money.

wow.. came from a mission of the game... the game never stop to amaze me.. :D.. destroyed a bridge with a bomb. to stop many armoured vehicles crossing it. :) and just discovered now that you can collide with electrical power lines.. with the effects of fire too. :)

you needs a very powerfull machine to play a highest quality settings.. there are people complaining with P43ghz+ and radeon 9800xt of framerates in the 10's :retard: the good news is that there are many settings to improve greatly the performance ,lowering the IQ but still the game IQ will be great.

the sweet spot in my Geforce4 + atlonXp1900 is 1024x768 +2xAA medium quality settings. albeit can play higher than that but it will not be too smooth .

here is the legendary F-15C..

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/attachment.php?attachmentid=6564&stc=1

while the game "only" :) allows you to choose between 6 aircrafts.. 4 russians and 2 americans popular fighters ,the game have many many more and very detailed.. that fights in your side or againts you.. all manipulated by the computer AI. like the F-16/F117/F4/F14 many Many F's fighthers and Migs or SU's too . all helicopters you can find in a war and Bombers /carriers and submarines too. with any modern weapon that you could find in any american or russian inventory today. pretty cool..

the funny thing is that this game was supposed to be only about the SU-25 russian air to ground fighter .. againts the A-10. but the game was delayed so much for business reasons.. (their company was bough by another) so they got time add much more content to the game. :D

here is a couple of more screenshot...

well worth the try.... lots of FUn.. cant wait to play this game on LAN.. and in a faster computer with a GT :D

There needs to be some LOD in LOMAC. I think performance increases will be huge with LOD.

you need a Joystick for flightsimulators.. if you want to really enjoy the game... you can get them pretty cheap these days..

this is the one i use... very cheap ,but very comfortable and does the job.. :)

if you want ..you can also get the official joystic for LockOn..
but is more expensive

hey nv40, I got a logitech extreme 3d pro second hand and WOW :O it's great.

I got one problem though, assigning profiles for the joystick is very hard for me (flight sim noob). Do you know where I can download these application profiles? It's advertised on the box but I have no idea, logitechs site just offers troubleshooting tips.

Or if you or anyone has one for this it would really help :) that goes for IL-2 - Sturmovik. Both are great games :D

That last screenshot you posted looks great NV40. It looks like it has depth of field effects ? That right. /me downloads demo.

dont know..
but you can ask in UBi forums..

im using generic windows xp drivers for thrustmasters.. and the game allows you to configure joystick buttons for anything in the game.

The depth of field effects would have to be an edit, no such effect is in the game unfortunately.
