Ok, I bought Alienware Pc in Dec, received it in feb(Xmas rush lol). Anyhow, its got a 420 watt PS, however, even looking at the invoive and anyother info sheets, I cant find what brand it is. Does anyone know?

Need to know so I can look up its rail and amps to see whether or not I need a new PS for 6800Ultra

Just so you know, the following is in my pc:
ASus p4cdeluxe -e MoBo
1024MB PC3200
fx 5700 Ultra
1 - 16x DVD
1 - 52x40x40 CDRW
2 - 80 gig serial ATA HD's(raid 0)
1 - 60 gig ultra ata HD
1 - 40 gig ultra ata HD
blue cathode lighting
5 x 80 mm case fans
1 x 3 triple fan piece in 5 1/4 drive bay
Using on board sound so no sound card

Everything running fine right now.

Long as the +12v rating is 20A or greater you should be fine (as has been stated repeatedly on this forum).

This probably didn't need a new thread either as discussion and potential answers to you inquiry can be found here:

It might..........hadnt thought of that. Was hoping someone might know so i wouldnt have to go thru the hassle of opening the case. Its one of those Predator cases and I have been inside it a few times, just a pain in the rear.

To the best of my knowledge Alienware uses Antec PSUs exclusively. Call their 800 number to verify it. I had an alienware system 4 years ago but i returned it and built my own because it arrived DOA.

I asked about it on Alienware forums and one guy said they were Thermaltake

Checked newegg for it and ehres the specs:

PFC: No
Power Good Signal: 100-500ms
Hold-up Time: >16ms at Full Load
Efficiency: >65%

Overload Protection: Not specified
Input Voltage: 115 VAC / 230VAC
Input Frequency Range: 47-63 Hz
Input Current: 10.0A (Measuring 90-132Vrms);5.0A (Measuring 180-264Vrms)

There was another one that said it was Active PFC i dunno what that means.......it cost $11 more then the one i listed but the amp ratings were all the same.

This is sufficient right?

What i've gathered is any 6800 will run fine on a 350W PSU, however with the Ultras if you plan to OC you better have at least a 480W PSU.

If you end up buying a PSU i recommend any of the antec true power series.

I use this http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-103-914&depa=0 antec true 480 blue. I paid $ 70.00 for mine from best buy but i got mine on sale last year.
