In an interview on Homelan I said we were planning on delivering the game to Sierra in August, and subsequently I've been bombarded with emails asking me if that is accurate.

Yep, to the best of our admittedly weak planning abilities, we are looking at August.

Also, is there some way to be notified of updates or replies on threads I'm subscribed to? I'm used to a different forum client, so maybe I'm just being dense.

well, there have been so many delays, it's come down to me believing it when I see it. :P

they only delayed it once. its just retailers and rumors get around with guessed and false dates it just feels like they delayed it like 5 times. kinda similar with doom 3, it feels like its be delayed alot but it hasnt even been delayed once.

Yeah, there was only 1 official release date, and it slipped. But everyone thinks it's been delayed multiple times because release dates keep getting made up by outside sources. Same with Halo 2: a lot of people were saying "Yeah, November 9th, like THAT will happen", but what they don't realise is that the game NEVER had an official release date. Now it does, and it definatly doesn't look like it's going to slip (or else that one MS employee that had "November 9th, 2004" tatooed on his arm is gonna look pretty foolish :p )

Anyway, August sounds good. Does seem kinda soon though...I wonder if they'll be able to get everything togeather by then. Well, I guess we'll find out in a few months, won't we?

Note what it said, though - delivering to Vivendi in August. That's when the game is going gold. It will take 2-3 weeks after that time for the final product to hit retail shelves. So it could very well be September before we have HL2 in our hot little hands.

I hope HL2 comes late August because D3 seems to be set for earlt August. Would'nt it be crule/cool if Valve was just holding off shipping HL2 untill a day or two before Quakecon (in late August) so that everyone at Quakecon would be playing HL2 rather than D3, Bwahahahaahahah :lol2: :lol2:

now i'm not even pshyc'd up about it anymore, but just pissed off that we were supposed to see both of them a year ago.

The game was first shown at E3 2003, less than a year and a half ago. And it was playable, but there's a big difference between playable and complete (look at Halo 2: the single-player demo shown at E3 2003 looked very polished, but the game isn't going to be out until nearly two years since that demo was shown).

Half-life 1 was also delayed for over a year (actually they had a complete version of it done in 1997, but it "wasn't up to snuff", so they scrapped it and remade the game, finally releasing it at the end of 1998), not to mention see ANY Blizzard game. Wasn't Diablo 2 supposed to come out in 1998, and Warcraft 3 in 2000?

They did delay it... They had September as a release date...last year, lol. :D
Then they started that theft story as a excuse, now they admit they couldn't release it back then, since it wasn't finished at all...
Now... who knows, i don't believe their stories anyway. I just hope they finish it soon enough to be a major hit.
