ATI LoVeR 9700

I'm sick of all these "Rumors." Ugh. By the time Christmas gets here, the Radeon 9700 will have done plenty of damage. Plus in about 3-4 Months ATi will release it's R350. The Radeon 9700 will move to mid-level and battle there. The NV30 will help bring nVidia back up, but it's not going to be their savior. One card cannot do that.
Let's not forget about Matrox and their Parhelia 2. At .13u with a high clockspeed and new technologies it will be competing. Matrox ain't no dumb Biznitch. ;)
I hope for my sake the NV30 is real good so ATi can release their R350 sooner! Or Matrox with a Parhelia 2.

One card cannot do that.
So what makes you think the R300 is ATI's savior? :p

The Radeon 64MB VIVO was ATi's savior. :D
It owns the Geforce4 in VIVO!

I had a Radeon 64 VIVO... but I hated constantly messing with the drivers, the locking up when I used the tray icon, the icon weirdness (in certain driver revs), the DVD player not working at all on my bro's box with the Catalyst drivers....
well. you know. it was great when it worked... :p
And who actually uses VIVO for anything more than TV-out anyway? ;)

Indeed... the DVD player was very nice when it worked, but for features and ease of use PowerDVD4/XP just nailed it.
I only ever really used the VIVO for video out - the quality on Video In was always terrible and generally not worth using! :)

Yep, this thing is out right now, so when NV30 is out, thats what I am gonna buy, 9700 Pro, should cost alot less and that should hold me over till R350, unless the NV30 really does have DDRII)real) at 1ghz with 256 bit mem at 400 Mhz clock. If not, I'll save money by getting 9700 Pro.:D ;)

i'm not holding my breath for Parhelia 2. Parhelia 1 was a big washout, no two ways about it. as time goes on i find it less and less likely that anyone can compete with the big guns in terms of high performance.

the truth of the matter is that theyve had a hard time competing with 3dfx ,nvdia or ati on the games scene! matrox had thier own little market for ages now but i wonder if thats shooting them selfs in the foot ,nvidia and ati have been chewing away at it for a while now and if they dont get a move on itll be danger !

well, i think that integrating "gamer" features and subsequently increasing prices on their cards is hurting them. Matrox has currently given me no indication that they can compete in the high performance 3d sector. nvidia and ATI are just too aggressive. but i hear that things on the Parhelia scene have gotten better since the card's introduction. not too much news about it after the card debuted though. i think most people lost interest in it, especially after R9700.

in my eyes the parhelia was a disapointment ,it wasnt fast enough to run 1 monitor let alone 3 ,oh and as for image quality how much different would it be to the 9700 or 4600 ? hardly be able to tell

By most standards, Rage Theatre capture is excellent. Certainly better than the majority of capture chips installed on GF4 boards.
I used a 64MB VIVO for ages with no major problems. Nice card.

Ati Fans are just jelaous that nvidia is releasing a card that compared to the 9700, will performe as fast as the 9700 compares the Ti 4600. A much superior card, oh and lets not forget 1 ghz ddr2 memory. Loosers!!! Hahahahhaha(<--witch like laughter)

Well upon release of a card we usually see tests at Toms and Anands.I don't think they only use 3dmark.
