Ok, I've decided to buy a 9800. I'm getting it off newegg, for 154. It's the 9800se, powercolor brand.
I want to softmod it, but I don't want to buy a new fan and thermal material.
Can it be done? Or will I have to spend 40 more for a Hercules 9800 Pro?

Does the card have L- or I-shaped memory? If it has the I-shape, don't bother trying to softmod it.

Its a power color and its a 256 bit mem on it like mine.
The stock cooler will do if you don't OC. If you OC then you need to get a better cooler.

EDIT
if don't mind taking the fan off and screwing a thin 60mm fan on then that will be the best and cheepest thing to do.
