It was finally installed today.

I set up a proxy server to share the connection to the other 2 pc's. I'm amazed at the speed! I downloaded some video drivers earlier at 207k/sec!!!

Oh how I love my cable net access.

btw, grab a d/l mgr and you'll see speeds in upwards of 400kb/s ;)

hehe.

Broadband net access is so nice. It's like everything is new again.

About download managers, I've always liked getright.

A piece of advice, now that you have broadband:

Better caution at first than tears afterwards.

I'm not sure how that applies, as I just read it off of the fortune cookie I just ate. Either way, congrats!

You'll fight to not go back to dialup again!

:D:cool:

I dont see how a DL manager increases your dl speeds when its the line that is capped? Also remember never to use a DL manager when dl drivers from Nvidias website ;) With broadband is there really any need for dl managers? I used to use gozilla, but now use getright, I only use it sometimes if for any reason im having problems dl in IE, ill just right click and dl with getright. With speeds of 200k/sec most things wouldnt take very long? Im stuck at 60k/sec and find that its fine, would love more but cant get it where I live :(

DAP is probably the best out there, just a bit of a pain for poping up in front of other apps

accelerators work by making mutiple connections to the host file and allowing the packets to find the speediest way

You can run, but you can't hide, little man!!!!!!

That's all right, though. Barring any unforseen legal/financial developments at the beginning of next year I'll be moving to a new area that has broadband access. The guy I'll be moving in with and I will set up wireless connections for the 5 computers we'll have in the house (3 Macs, 2 PC). :D

Hehe, he has the Macs (G4 tower, G4 cube, PowerBook) while I have the PC's (Dell laptop, homegrown Athlon desktop). There's a wireless access point essentially right on top of where we'd be living so it should be really easy to get a provider and the connection set up.

Edit: I also remembered that he has a dedicated Linux box as well, so make that 6 total computers. :D
