"We are fighting a worldwide Islamic insurgency -- not criminality or terrorism -- and our policy and procedures have failed to make more than a modest dent in enemy forces," he said.

He said the threat from radical Islam is rooted in opposition not to American values, but to policies and actions, particularly in the Islamic world.

The book denounces the US occupation of Iraq as "an avaricious, premeditated unprovoked war against a foe who posed no immediate threat," and said it would fuel the anti-American sentiments on which bin Laden and his followers draw.

"There is nothing that bin Laden could have hoped for more than the American invasion and occupation of Iraq," the author writes.

Ya, this is the book by Anonymous Too bad the evidence goes against Anonymous. This story was release Sunday. This book has no validity to it and is basically a hack job.

This made me laugh for a good minute or two. :rofl

Anonymous = no sac...I bet he has a name when it comes to receiving his checks (all ten or so of them) :D

Anonymous said he has "a pressing certainty that Al Qaeda will attack the continental United States again, that its next strike will be more damaging than that of 11 September 2001, and could include use of weapons of mass destruction."Oooohhh aaaahhh... That's like saying "I'm almost certain that it will rain again, harder than last time". Baaahahahah...but I thought they didn't have any WMD? I know I know...Iraq != terrorists...whatever, this book is still a joke but he'll make some scratch so good for him...only in America. :D

you are denying there has been a rather big increase in terrorist incidents due to the war in iraq and the claim there are a greater number of insurgents now likely to ally themselves to terrorist organisations than before?

:)

In a highly unusual move allowing the publication of a book on a politically explosive topic, the CIA vetted the book to ensure it included no classified information, and a CIA official asked the daily not to reveal the identity of its author -- a former CIA official identified him -- because he could become a target of bin Laden's al-Qaeda network, the daily said.

Oh c'mon man...hindsight is 20/20 and no one can say whether this increase would have occurred or not anyway. There wasn't any war before 9/11 and the peckers slammed two planes full of men, women and children into two gigantic buildings filled with men, women and children...

/me throws hand in the air and benchmarks games instead...easier on the stomach

Should we just recall all troops and barricade our borders and leave the world alone? Is that your grand answer to things? Please advise an alternate solution to what Bush is doing. I've been waiting for Kerry to. Nothing yet! *crickets*. 9/11 was planned and trained for under Clintons watch, when middle east operations were at a 10 year low. Nice try.

Nobody is denying that terrorism has gone up. We are at war with them and they are trying to fight back. The difference is that we are winning this war.

I don't want to get into a discussion about the numbers that were gathered wrong. It will just be a circle. You will say they did it on purpose and I will say no they didn't and on it goes.

I have never claimed the numbers released were in anything but error... I believe powell's assessment of what happened because it is highly plausible...

it is common knowledge terrorism levels are a little elevated from years past which is why I was a little confused by your assessment that there was evidence against the author's claims...

It makes sense to me the attacks would go up in the middle of a war. Call me goofy. :D

BTW sorry for jumping to a conclusion. ;)
