Is there a program that can convert like 100 DV videos to mpg?

You could probably get by with TMPGEnc.

I have a program called DVD Shrink 3.1 for copying dvd's. a It's freeware program. It also will compress the video down to fit on 4.7 gig dvd-r or smaller if you want to put it on a cdr.

For cd sized files I think the XVID (the open source DIVX) format has the best quality.

mpg just doesnt do that great of a job compressing video so the quality is much lower for the same sized file.
