I've just installed win2k on a partition, everything was fine but now I cant use XP, I select XP at start up and it complains about a file from 2000 been missing. I'm not going to swear but im getting very annoyed at all this crap now:mad:. All I want to do is Format E: and delete every single damn remnant of win2k now. But it seems I cant even do that now ffs:mad: anyone know what i can do?

Did the WinXP bootloader get killed?

If you have the WinXP CD, boot off of it and go to the Recovery Console. Use fixmbr and fixboot (I think), and that should fix the bootloader.

What happened (I believe) is that Windows (any ver.) tries to install its bootloader onto the primary partition on the primary drive. In the end you end up messing up one bootloader or another. Even if you fix the Win2K loader the XP won't boot.
