Hello, I'm having trouble with XFree86 4.2.1 and my NVidia GeForce 4 MX 440. When I execute `startx`, it shows a black screen for about twenty seconds, then shows my window manager. I do not want this delay, and I don't know how to get rid of it.
Attached are my /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 and /var/log/XFree86.0.log files.

Here is the other file:
See the May have found Fix to Long Load time for X with some ppl (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3051) thread. This problem has been reported quite a bit recently, although most of the threads (except for the one I'm referring you to) are now on page 2.

I just tried that, and it said: Warning: ignoring NVreg_SkipBiosPost=1, no such parameter in this module... Then I tried startx and it still had the delay. Any other suggestions?
OK. I was wondering about that, because my modinfo program doesn't list that as being an argument you can specify, either.
Chalk it up to old versions or something, maybe. No, I don't have any other ideas. I don't have the problem, but I know there are quite a few people here that do, mostly with GF4 MX cards like yours.
