Do you think an OC'd 6800GT, "to Ultra speeds", would run the same as an actual "Ultra"????

It should perform identical.

Yes I do.

As long as you didn't also OC the Ultra, yes.

I think it would be an Ultra at that point.

However, it's questionable as to whether the memory will be able to match the Ultra's memory speeds, right? They aren't using the same memory chips, are they?

Nope

Slower memory on the GT

They both use GDDR3 ram. The GT is just a lower clocked 6800 ultra. ;)

If the GT and U are clocked the same, you will get identical performance.

But the ultra uses 1.6ns memory vs the slower 2.0ns memory on the GT. Since my "crappy" Thermaltake purepower 420w only has 18a on the v12 the GT is a smart choice.

i believe bfg uses 1.6ns on their gt

BFG couldn't do that, as they don't even make the cards. They have to use the same components as every one else, at least for now.
