I just picked up a new system which I'll use for the BFG 6800 GT (when it finally gets here). I got it from a friend for a great price. I went with the AMD CPU. I was tired of Intel and its P4 line. I hope the GT will run well in this system. What do you think? It's not top-of-the-line, but it's better than my old P4 2.4GHz system.

almost exactly like my system... I have

A64 3000+
1 gig mushkin level 1 pc 3500
bfg 6800 gt (will get it on thursday)
audigy2 plat.

Watercooling and overclocking will come in august.

Make sure you have a stout power supply if you want to overclock.

I went with a $75 antec true blue 480 watt at newegg and I am very pleased with it.
22 amps on the 12v rail

The only thing is that my power supply is a bit wimpy at 300W max. I could put in a better one if needed. Anyway, the system runs a lot better than my P4 rig.

Yep, I just built a new rig last Friday for my 6800 Ultra which hopefully will be here this week from Best Buy (fingers crossed). Can't wait!

I bit the bullet and got a new box to go with my 6800GT as well. The plan was to wait for pci-e, but it's taking too long, so it got bumped to next year's "to do" list.

Athlon 64 3500+ 939
Gigabyte NF3 250 Ultra
4x512MB Muskin Level 1 DDR400
2x74GB WD 10K Raptors
Nec Dual Layer 8x DVD Burner
Coolermaster WaveMaster case w/Antec 480 True Blue PS
Dell 2000FP 20" LCD and NEC FP1370 22" CRT (AKA Desk full 'o pixels :) )
and of course, a good old BFG 6800GT OC :)

I upgraded my system a bit for my GT to.
I added the prescott and have it running
great at 3.5Ghz. That should push the GT quite well. :D :drooling:
Now I just need my GTOC. ;)

Here I am stuck at a lousy 3.0GHz, which won't overclock worth a damn. It is an early P4C, the first revision, from May 2003. I paid over $500 for it at the time.

got a noisetaker 470w for cheap, waiting for a gig of bh5 mushkin 3500 goodness, and got a MCX4000 with panaflo 92mm low for cpu, ready to be overclocked, but still saving for a 6800GT

I guess I got lucky my PS will do 3.5 stable.
Most of these early chips do not like overclocking at all.

Well at least u have a 3Ghz system. ;)
