We all know that nVidia's strongest suit is OpenGL based games. Does anyone know of a list of alot of the popular OpenGL games right now and all the OpenGL games set to release in the coming months?

I know Doom 3 will be OpenGL. Then there is Unreal 3. And possibly Serious Sam 2? What else?

PainKiller is openGL. Quake 4 uses Doom3 engine so its openGL. Im sure there are others but can't think of any at the moment.

Unreal 3 will be built as a D3D game with OpenGL support.....Doom 3 is the only "true" OpenGL engine coming out in the near future.....And Serious Sam 2 has been out for about a year now and yes it is another of the OpenGL engines....

The Unreal 3 engine and Painkiller are both D3D. They use PS and VS 1.1 - 3.0.

Call of Duty is OpenGl, I think.

Er if you want to know at 1600x1200 with 4xaa and 8xaf everything on high in Quake 3 I get 260 fps lol

Neverwinter Nights

KOTOR

Half the games on that list are based on the Quake 3 engine, albeit with some major updates/tweaking.

KOTOR isn't. Call of Duty, RTCW and Jedi Knight II are.

I really thought PainKiller was openGL. It runs fantasic on my 5900.

And I forgot, yes, COD is of course openGL. I have that game and dont know why I forgot :retard:

What? I thought KotOR was an OpenGL game. The Oddysey engine is a modified Auroa engine which is OpenGL.

Yea, i saw KOTOR mentioned in the forums of the official OpenGL website. Thats why i kinda figured it was OpenGL :).

I agree, i own most of the games listed in this thread and the 5900NU runs them like a dream.<prepares for the ati lynch mob> hehe.

Nvidia has always been good in OGL. :)

yes they have, but some of the games listed aren't OpenGL hehe. With the exception of a handful of titles, the FX 5900 had exceptional performance in most games, especially ones i play.

Painkiller is definitely DirectX as it runs way too fast on my ATI card to be OpenGL. I do know that ATI is rewriting their OpenGL code so that is a good thing. The 4.7 beta drivers seem to show a nice performance increase in OpenGL games so maybe some of that new code is being used.

It's no big deal as these new X800 cards are so fast they play games like CoD with no problem. Hopefully Doom 3 will not be a problem for me!

OpenGL has always been a thorn in ATI's side so I am glad they are finally doing something about it.
