I've been using a Leadtek nvidia 4400 with dual monitors for the last couple of years. I just recently got a nvidia quadro 900xgl and installed it last night and now I can only get one monitor to show up in the properties window?!?! This doesn't make any sense to me, but hey it's a computer, so where's the suprise? I've chased my tail for quite a while here and this is what I've come up with, both digital displays work until windows get to the logon screen then the primary digital display turns off. That's only when the nvidia drivers are installed. If it's the standard windows vga driver both displays are active. Now this is where it gets strange, I'm running Dell 2000FP monitors that can switch between analog and digital, so I thought I'd just try this out. I switched my primary display to analog input with a digital to anolog adapter and low and behold both displays work in windows now?!?!? It doesn't make any sense to me, digital to digital doesn't work but digital through an adapter cable and the monitors' DAC does work? I guess this shouldn't bother me but I CAN really see the difference in crispness between the displays. Is any body out there using an Asus a7m266-d mobo with a quadro4 900 xgl and dual digital displays? Or do I just have a freaky machine? I tried updating the bios on the quadro and the mobo no change, tried video drivers from 40.72 to 56.72 no change. I guess I'm going to have to live with one sharp monitor and one fuzzy monitor.:-/ So the plot thickens. It seems that only the primary monitor in the dual set up can't be digital. I resigned myself to having one digital and one anolog monitor but I wanted my primary monitor to be digital but as soon as I switched them in the display properties both monitors turned off?!?! I rebooted and only one monitor was present, the secondary analog monitor, throughout the whole boot process into windows. In windows I was down to a single monitor again and no digital, even though with the primary and secondary monitors switched both were pesent? Any suggestions, known issues?

Heh - unbelievable. I had EXACTLY the same problem 1 year ago with a 980XGL and (heh!) 2 Dell UltraSharp 2000FPs (little older than yours). It was the most anoying thing possible - have a fuzzy and a sharp monitor.

I posted a similar question here - no answer - look somewhere in the archives - like April last year.

Fortunately - I posted also in www.highend3d.com (hardware forums - do a search for dual monitors)

http://www.highend3d.com/boards/showthreaded.php?Cat=1,2&Board=hardware&Number=155115&page=&view=&sb=&o=

and I got the following answer:

"Maybe a faulty card? Possible a TMDS transmitter isn't working correctly..
contact PNY's quadro support group; they should be able to get you an answer quickly."

Hm - the good thing was that I had my card bought froma store (they don't service ebay purchases - I found that with another card).

The card was working fine in dual analog or analog+digital setups - was not working in pure digital hires setups - and yes - it was teh TMDS transmitter that was faulty.

Nevertheless - teh replacement works fine and 2 x 1600x1200 Dell FPs look gorgeous.

I hope you will fix your problem. It's the card (some ebay cards are dropouts from the factory with known problems).

Good luck - DC
