This card comes overclocked at 370MHz instead of the 350MHz default clock from Nvidia. At the 370MHz setting, I was getting some artifacts in Far Cry and 3DMark 2001. When I underclocked the card to the 350MHz default, the artifacts in far Cry were gone, but I still had problems with 3DMark 2001 SE. I first thought the card was defective, but I realized that my PS is barely adequate at 300 Watts. I couldn't run the card in my Athlon 64 system and its 250 Watt PS. I was getting some serious artifacts and some freezing.

I'm guessing that the card isn't defective, and the real problem was my wimpy PS. Am I correct here? I know the 6800 Ultra really takes a powerful PS to run properly because of its high clock speeds.

Yes it really was your PSU, with a high end gaming rig you should never have anything bellow 400W.

yes msot likely its your PSU. 300watts is the bare minimum for a GT and even that must have 18a on the +12 rail. My advise it to buy a better PSU ASAP. I'd hate to see you damage that nice new 6800 GT, which could happen if you dont upgrade the PSU at least some. Get a 400w or better with 18a or more on the +12 and you'll see a dramatic difference. Plus, you'll be able to overclock it past the 370 mark too:)
